OP this why every kid has the evr recurring ear infection here! They do not wear hats in weather like this. You are right, they need to wear hats. It is very cold.

Huh? You do realize that a common cold is not caused from actually being cold. As for the whole "babies can get sick from not being properly warm in the winter" argument. Yes, this is true. However, that would be because a mom takes her baby out to the park without a parka on, or he plays in the snow without mittens on. Not a 2 minute walk from the heated car to the heated store without a hat on.

But a weakened immune system doesn't happen from having the head exposed to 37 degrees for 2 minutes while walking to/from a store. And a weakened immune system can also happen from being overheated.

Please post the resource showing that overheating increases likelihood of catching colds/ respiratory infections, and worsens the severity of the illness.
Babies are too young to link the act of taking off clothing with the feeling of getting cold, so if you're waiting for them to learn that lesson, you might have to wait another year, at least.

Heat illnesses, such as heat stroke, are obviously bad, and weakens the child, making them susceptible to other illnesses.

As far a the parent being bundles up but not the child, its because parents don't take off coats in the car. Its actually less about their comfort, and more about convenience. I hate walking through a store with a heavy coat on, so I'm one of the adults you see walking between the car and store without a coat. EVERY day someone feels the need to tell me I need to wear a coat. Um, I have a coat, its in the car, and no, I don't need to wear it. I'm outside for less than a minute going between the car and the store. When I drop the kids off at school, I'm usually carrying their coats because they don't want to put them on for the 30 second walk from the car to the school. It would be different if they stood outside at a bus stop, but they don't.

People are missing the point. MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS. Simple as that. Maybe there was a hat, maybe the baby tossed it in a puddle of water, maybe it was causing a rash.
