I went to catholic school and they're extremely picky. They knew that going in.

Were white kids also required to wear their hair up? If the school says, everyone has to wear their hair short, in ponytails or braids, that would be fine. But it looks like her hair is just too ethnic for them.

I think the school should have a consistent policy - EVERYONE whose hair is say, more than ear length must tie it back. Head band, barrette, ponytail, whatever. Black or white, tie back your hair.
