Okay but this group refused blacks to join their little club (even though they were qualified) in 1984, in 2012 was the first time they allowed a chapter run by a black woman.

What isn't their fault, that they celebrate and revere people who owned people, stold other people's lznd and spread disease and acted like their very presence was doing THEM a favor?
Manifest Destiny Mother*******!!
Put that your license plate!

you do know most white people were not slave owners, right?

Exactly most... But it is well documented that the Mayflower 26 started slavery in the US.

Interesting to know if family was on the Mayflower but not exactly something to be proud and excited about.

Like, wow just found out my family was on the Mayflower and I am very sorry, then send some money to a scholarship or something.

Lol. This exactly!!! You hail from people who committed unspeakable atrocities against humanity. Whoo hoo!

And you honestly think you don't too? We all come from people who did bad things. ALL OF US!

You're right. Should I go start a thread and brag about it? Relation to these people should be your dirty little secret, not the basis of stupid clubs. "My ancestors owned/raped/abused people, and I think they're cool!"

My ancestors came here on Pan Am.

I am 11th generation here in US. I would doubt that a family could have only 8-9 generations and go back to the mayflower.

Go listen to some Elvis tunes to quiet your nerves.

Are you this fired up on all of the threads you've visited tonight? Oh wait, I know the answer to that one.

How much have you had tonight? I'm guessing 2.5 glasses of red so far. Just enough to get punchy, but not enough to slur and fumble at the keyboard.

I don't even like red wine , but nice try.

Ah, right. Hennessy.

Anonymous wrote:A family member into researching our family history recently pieced together that we are related to a Mayflower passenger (not sure which one)...I think it's interesting that side of the family left Europe (mainly England) so long ago. Anyone else have family that came here on the Mayflower, or in the 17th century?

The furthest back I can trace is my 9th Great Grandfather, who was born on Arran Island, Scotland, in 1645. His great grandson arrived in Pennsylvania in 1750.

Oh boy, did one of the resident DCUM angries hijack this thread too? I'm a black man and I think it's cool to trace your ancestors back to historical events.

Lots of Americans have ancestors who arrived on the Mayflower.

There were only 102 passengers, so I doubt there are "lots" of people related to them.

You're kidding, right? 102 original passengers, several kids each, 9, 10, 11 generations since then. Do the math.

Yeah, I used to think my family was kind of special because we are direct descendants of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Then I joined ancestry.com and discovered I have about 40,000 cousins.
