Screw you -- drunk driving is inexcusable. You should be ashamed of yourself. 2-3 glasses of wine is most certainly enough to impair your judgment and driving.

PP, the moral arc of the universe is long, but it bends toward justice. If your parents are still alive, it's not too late to have them prosecuted.


Thanks, PP. I don't see any good coming out of prosecuting them. Just more misery all around.

Viral encephalitis two years ago. I was in the ICU, and didn't understand until months later that I only had a 30% chance of survival. Luckily, I don't remember much of it. Unfortunately, my family does.

Omg so glad you are ok. This is such a nightmare - I once knew a family where both the mother and the baby did not make it. It was so sudden.

Age 17 - friend skidded on some black ice in her SUV. We broke through a wooden guard rail and plummeted into the woods, tipping over and striking a tree. We all walked away with just some bruises, cuts, and a broken arm for me and a broken leg for her. Thank God for seatbelts, airbags, and a sturdy car frame


We can thank Ralph Nader for these auto safety features.

This is all what I was told after surgery and I was lucid...

In surgery, they gave me too much anesthetic. My heart stopped and they had to use a breathing tube and stop surgery to do compressions and to shock me.

Here's what I remember:

Somehow I could hear the heart monitor thing beeping and that "flat" sound. Then I felt like I was outside of myself but on the ceiling looking at my body. I know this is prob just my mind making it up. But I remember seeing them put a tube in my throat and I saw them giving CPR.

When I was 14 a guy who was known to be violent held a knife to my throat. He died years later in a fire in his prison cell.
Almost drowned when I was 7, did not go back into water until I was 11.
Almost died when EMTs did not recognize how urgent my situation was, I had developed severe post-partum preeclampsia. Still remember the triage nurse cursing and yelling when I walked in and my blood pressure was 210/120. They had never even taken it while I was in the ambulance. Spent several days in the hospital.
