There's nothing to appeal. The alternative would be to attempt pupil placement.

The administration at Louise Archer says it's Cluster 2's decision, Cluster 2 says it's the fault of grandfathering (ie the school board) and the school board never addressed this small group of kids, as far as I heard. The other issue is that there are younger siblings of the grandfathered children at Louise Archer that are now slated for Westbriar, and some of those parents are also trying to keep their kids together in the same school. Again, it seems like opening up a 4th grade class at Westbriar would help solve both problems.

If pigs could fly....Westbriar is overcrowded as well -- so much so, that it wouldn't have even been considered as a new center if that didn't come with the promise of a quicker renovation. the school board considered all these options and went with the most practical one. and again, just adding a class here or there, as other posters have noted is how the populations at these schools got out of control to being with.

I don't think so. I'm the poster who suggested Mosby Woods as an alternative for Town of Vienna kids because they all share Jackson MS as an AAP Center and because of the distance. I think it makes more sense for Westbriar kids to go to Colvin Run than it does for Cunningham Park kids, for example because of the distance. On the other hand, I think Westbriar kids go to Kilmer AAP, so it doesn't make sense on that front. As others suggested perhaps one of the centers that are opening up for Marshall High School kids should accommodate the other Vienna schools like Stenwood, Westbriar, and Freedom Hill. Don't know if they'd have enough to make a class, though.

Does "Vienna kids" just mean "Town of Vienna" kids and do Town residents think their kids should only go to Archer, Thoreau and Madison? Both Colvin Run and Westbriar are in Vienna. You'd think from some of these posts they are in Ashburn.

I asked, they can't provide it because of cost and practicality -- too few kids and too many neighborhoods. Again, I sympathize because in a perfect world everyone would have transportation, but because AAP was allowed to expand so much they're really in a crisis mode now and just trying to do the best they can.

Thank you for the update. Is depot busing an option to save money/time? Or is that even too widespread?

Because LA agreed to grandfather those kids to miniE disruption in their education.

Opening up up 4th and 5th grade AAP classes at the new Westbriar Center would most likely solve the problem, keep the Vienna kids in Vienna, enable more siblings to stay together and make it possible to provide transportation. I'm not sure why this wasn't considered as a possibility.

Yes. At least last year, if you were a base school student you could go to the school, whether in AAP or GE.

Yep, I think it's because Mosby is overcrowded too. I'm town of Vienna and that would be preferable for us

I'm pretty sure if you move into the Louise Archer area they have to take you - it's your base school - but, if it's for AAP that's a different matter. That's where the problem (overcrowding) lies.

I wonder why they wouldn't send the Town of Vienna kids who can't go to LA to Mosby Woods instead of Colvin Run. First, it's most likely closer. 2nd, Marshall Road kids are already there. 3rd, most of the kids go to Luther Jackson for middle school. Colvin Run makes no sense for Town of Vienna kids. Although, Mosby Woods is pretty crowded, too, so that might be why.

Question: if someone in 4th grade moved into a Louise Archer base school neighborhood, can they go to Louise Archer (for either general ed. or AAP)? Just curious if anyone knows.
