I didn't know there was a name for insiders and my friends and neighbors who send kids there have never corrected me when I refer to it as Flora Singer (or get upset because I dropped the middle initial). If you are saying that people who don't call it the right name should not post - I don't agree. They can't post from a first hand perspective but could indicate that they know kids who go there and have heard of the good quality on a second hand basis. If you are asking about the school, you shouldn't have to know the "insider" name. If I refer to Albert Einstein HS as Einstein when I ask about it, it doesn't mean I shouldn't go.
As for respect, I don't think anyone means any disrespect when they call the school Flora. The school was named for a Holocaust survivor and teacher. She was a great woman and they named a school for her. People will shorten the name to save time typing or to refer to the school informally. If I use the GW Parkway instead of the George Washington Memorial Parkway doesn't mean I disrespect George Washington. It also doesn't mean I would call him George if I met him in person. The parkway is not the person. The school is not the woman. If I met her, I would call her Ms. Singer. If we became friends, I would call her Flora. I will call the school Flora Singer because people know which school I am talking about when I say that. In a forum solely about Flora Singer, you should be able to call it Flora because we all know it means the Flora M. Singer Elementary School.
This is so ridiculous. No one calls it Flora. If they did then the person who knows nothing about the school could call it that. I agree that dropping the middle initial is done and so is calling it Singer.
