Well have been SO upset about these tiny holes showing up in brand new shirts. It has been driving me crazy. I though it was the seat belt in the car, but have been religiously pulling my shirt over the top of the belt. Thought it could be pants snap, but have worn so many different kinds and still get the hole. Also have worn a tank underneath and just today found a hole in a SWEATSHIRT that I had worn once, over the top of a tank and with seat belt underneath. HELP this is costing a fortune!

It is interesting that it happens to so many people. What we have noticed: it happens with all kind of t-shirts, but they are mostly thin (moths usually only eat wool and cashmere/similar, but not cotton); we thought it had to do with cheap vs. expensive t-shirt brands, but we have noticed it also in expensive high quality t-shirts (although not as often); the spot is 99% of the time about 1 inch above the lower edge of the t-shirt, always in the front, always in the midline. We sometimes tuck the t-shirts in, sometimes not, have belts, but not for all t-shirts, use aprons for cooking... The symmetry of the holes is really appalling and pretty much excludes a random damage by detergent/ washing/ moths/ bugs... It must be something related to how the shirts are worn, but we haven't it figured out yet - that's why I am reading this blog... THERE MUST BE A SOLUTION. Maybe the manufacturer is intentionally making the spot weak so that we have to buy new ones every once in a while - I now started throwing them out or just using them for painting because I find it embarrassing running around in a nice T-shirt with a hole. (and we both have no big bellies, and a good washing machine, are using no bleach...)

wear mid-riff shirts only, or tie them so they are above the belly button... no holes!!

It's the pants. I did this to about 4 of my favorite tissue t-shirts when I tucked them in. Not sure but I suspect my zipper--you zipper them in the pants. Or maybe just the zipper rubbing against the cloth. Anyways it's your pants (or skirt or belt). Somehow.
