No. I am one of those people who starts and then stops. I feel very self conscious when I go to the gym.I do walk a mile or two 5 days a week.

PLEASE DON"T FEEL SELF CONCIOUS!!

I used to be you. Now I'm in the best shape of my life. I love seeing overweight people at the gym. I feel like they are so corageous and ready to take charge of their health. I secretly cheer you on. Nothing is more exciting than seeing the same person at the gym over the course of the year and watching them transform. I'm at the gym enough I notice the regulars and see the progress. The people who start so overweight are just so inspiring, as I know how incredibly hard it is.

Thank you so much! This literally made me smile. I felt so encouraged I woke up early before work, and hit the gym for an hour.
It felt great!

I have a few ideas. I think it's because fat is seen as a weakness. I think some people are annoyed that many fat women aren't trying to mold themselves into what is seen as acceptable, because we all know it's not ok to be fat. Or if you're fat you should hate your body and kill yourself trying to change it.
Someone once said " never underestimate the huge middle finger you give to the world when you become at peace with your body".

I have a different theory. I'm jealous of accepting fat women because I have a huge appetite and love fattening food. I restrict myself for health and vanity reasons and I'm jealous that fat women aren't showing the same discipline.

That still gives no one the right to be vicious towards someone else.

When you lost a significant amount of weight a couple of years ago did you gain that back? Any more?

OP, I'm a fairly in shape white male, and I think you should be commended for your efforts.

Serious question - given the documented health risks that come along with being very overweight/obese, and the significant costs to society of treatment and/or accommodation of those health problems, do you think overweight people should pay more for health insurance?

I've never been one of those self-loathing fat women, and will never be.

im the one that asked the first question. well good to hear.

i hate fat women who sit around and complain about being fat.

either embrace it and love yourself or try to lose weight

The OP is morbidly obese. If you eat obsessively at McDonald's, you could indeed have her "guts".

I'm not a skinny person, but I find that the women here painting OP as some "superwoman" are a bit lame. The OP is living an extremely unhealthy lifestyle that might very well result in health issues. If you guys really think she is your hero, you should be pushing for her to lose at least 100 lbs.

She has admitted it's not healthy. She has stated she's working on it (or will be). She is caring, funny, self-confident and has taken some pretty hateful comments with class. I think these are some admirable traits that many people living a healthy lifestyle lack. (Of course I'm painting with a broad stroke there and don't mean to include ALL.) I can decide who my today dcum hero is, and today it is op!

FAT GIRLS UNITE!!!

Seriously, the only women on here saying "you go girl," are fat also. It is completely unhealthy, not matter how great of a personality she has.

Not true. I'm 5'3" 113 lbs. I think OP rocks!

I am a foodie, my favorite foods are pasta, and mexican food.
I am fat because I eat a lot of fried foods, and carbs. And I definitely don't exercise enough.

I am very sexy.

So stop eating fried foods and carbs.

I do think about this. I think about being judged when I go on interviews.
I think about ignorant misconceptions. It hasn't been a problem so far.
I don't want to say what I do, probably not for the reasons that you think.

How are the misconceptions ignorant? You've pretty much confirmed them (unhealthy eating, not exercising, etc).

I wasn't talking about those misconceptions. I do exercise, just not as much as I should.

You sound pretty. I also suspect that your shape is better than many posters assume. And based on the places you shop (and not liking Lane Bryant), my guess is you have a nice sense of style.

There are some people my size who are miserable in life but take comfort in feeling that someone is worse off than them (fat people). It pisses them off that you might actually have a better life. The nerve!

Does your man have a single brother? You and I are the same age.lol

Thanks doll! Shape as in body shape? Or overall health? If you mean body shape most people don't believe me when I tell them how much I weigh. I carry my weight in my hips and ass, and chest. Unfortunately my guy has a bunch of sisters.
I get that people are concerned about heavier people, but I think the majority of it is just nastiness. Not general concern for my or another person's well being, just pure meanness.
Even if I was smaller( I say smaller not thin because my Dr. has told me my body is not one that's meant to be thin) I'd never want to be around these negative people. So much negativity just eats away at you. It's like poison.

For what it's worth, when I see overweight people at the gym I have a very hard time judging them... (or at least, I judge them very, very positively). I am about average weight and I think about how much harder it would be to do what I am doing if I had more pounds to carry.
That said, I bet just walking is good exercise and it sounds like you are "on" it.
Good luck.

Thanks PP, I really appreciate it. When my classes ease up a little bit I plan to step it up.
