Besides, I agree with PP...this isn't a HHI thread, so SAH PP should have said $0. PP is right that there will be a HHI thread again soon, where DH salaries can be shared. I think PP would have been less irritated if SAH PP had been upfront that it was DH's salary instead of phrasing it to appear that she earned that money (it also irritated me as it came across as braggy and dishonest).

I am the PP SAHM who stated that I make $0 and that my husband's income has increased significantly. I added that for a purpose. I'm assuming that the OP, and anyone reading this thread, is doing so for a reason. If someone is thinking about how to increase their family's income, I think it is relevant to know that it can be quite profitable to have one spouse at home and one focus hard core on his or her career. In our situation, our family income is significantly greater because one of us dedicates a tremendous amount of time to work, while the other of us takes care of most of the home and family-related duties. This is the case with a number of families I know. FWIW, my annual income at my last job was over $350,000, so it's not as though I'm incapable of earning my keep as many on DCUM would seem to Assume of SAHMs. This is just what works best for us for many reason, and has turned out to be far more profitable for the family.

^^^Sounds like you're hating. Who cares if its hers or her hubby's salary? We weren't asked for women only to respond, so it doesn't matter.

I still agree that $0 would have been sufficient info. This is not a HHI or brag about your DH's salary thread.

$80K working as an educational specialist at a nonprofit. 10 years experience, MA and a specialty area very few people in education have. I WAH 100% and have great flexibility and benefits. Also own a pt business that generates between $10 - $30K per year. I work about 60 hrs/week between the two.

I will admit to being jealous of some of the mega-salaries I see in DC for certain fields, but I think it's probably more that they are over-compensated rather than that I am being under-compensated.

To agree with PPs above, I regularly ask for and receive raises. I never accept offered salary when I start a new job - I always negotiate for (and have historically gotten) 5-10% more through a little negotiation. We can do it, ladies!

Doctoral-level psychologist. 45k for 9 mos/yr(summers off) with good benefits. Private practice brings in another 25k, for a total of around 70k. Not the greatest, but I love my work.

$125K, creative head for successful advertising/communications firm, huge benefits and flexibility, plus I love what I do. MA, MBA and about 15 years' experience. I feel fairly paid for what I do.

My agency doesn't require a paralegal course, just a college degree. You definitely need to be informed and selective about which agencies you apply to, because government paralegal work can range from stuff that is reasonably interesting (drafts of very simple pleadings, cite checking, reviews of basic, routine contract documents, putting together agency records etc.) to stuff that is mind numbing (bates labeling, copying, trying to manage giant document productions without the resources of a big firm).
