Agree. My girls can be pretty spoiled and entitled at times and they would never try something like this. I’d disconnect their cell phone plans and sell their phones on Craigslist and they know it!!


I agree. Phones gone in an instant. Computer in family room, used for homework only.

This is absurd. At 14 she doesn't get to decide on where she wants to go especially when it affects the family with such short notice. If you let her stay home it sets the president that she can throw a fit whenever it suits her and she can control what happens. You nip this in the bud and pull rank and tell her whats going to happen and if by chance she doesn't pack/ get in the car for the trip then she gets no privileges (phone, tablet, going out) until all money is paid back for the full trip that cannot be refunded.

Agree. Normal is “ugh I don’t want to go Italy it sounds boring.” Refusing to go and holding up your whole family (who can’t manage you) means your parents have failed to parent you and you’re a belligerent dictator in your family now.


Correct. Normal would be sulking and pouting. Not holding the trip hostage.

Same OP but 15/16 year old boy. He's always been extremely rigid but no official autism diagnosis. I make sure he is on board with plans. I was surprised when he consented and is enjoying Disney with his little siblings. He's giving his Dad a fight over Discovery Cove and doesn't care about Universal which is surprising to me.

I hear two headstrong, moody, sometimes spoiled teenage girls and neither would pull a stunt like this. They know the consequences would not be worth it and we would follow through.
