There is no back up plan. This is your school now. Enjoy

But really, we started our kids in K at a well rounded school where kids can have a lot of avenues. So not an issue and honestly not worried about it. Most kids don’t get a choice for school.

Do they like it now during the tours? Maybe take a breath and let them adjust for a while before making any decisions. Second, you can always apply in 1-2 years.

In most situations, each division, LS, MS, and HS, is a different school. Only this elite K-12 model makes it sound like a kid should stick with one school forever.

Kids change. Interests change. Priority also changes. I also wonder the same. I think single sex is great for LS/MS, but might not always be good for every kid for HS. Can one apply to a co-ed HS from a single-sex school?

I felt the opposite. DD went to co-ed K-8 and is at all girls HS. She had enough exposure to boys growing up to appreciate that her high school experience is special and empowering.

Of course! No one will begrudge you.

Yes. It’s f’d up when they keep giving you all those reminders and you get rejected

Did others get this call from Holton? We applied and did not get this phone call.

We did get this call. Might depend on which division you applied to because they have different admissions personnel - we applied to LS (Josie).

The LS applicant did get a call.

Yikes, we applied to LS and did not receive a call.

I think it might not be very meaningful.

I doubt it means anything. Someone else made the point a few pages back that this call could have been to on-the-fence applicants and they wanted to gauge our continued level of interest/enthusiasm.

Thank you for talking me off the ledge! We have made it very clear to admissions this is our number one choice. Friday cannot come soon enough.

Anonymous wrote:How are people feeling? What is your plan if your kid doesn't get in anywhere or doesn't get into an appealing or top choice? We only applied to 3 and our plan is the local public. I don't feel stressed about it bc I don't think public would be all that bad - though obviously a top private would be a more rigorous, well-resourced experience for my kid.

We applied to four, and we really want out of DCPS - I don't think saving $60k is worth staying in that system a year longer. I'm SO nervous/excited about Friday.

Good luck. Four is a good number to get in at least in one. I heard overall enrollments in DMV private schools are not great, but for schools outside the Big5.
