Incompetence, it is.
Don’t believe the cover story. This is a Republican Party operation most likely involving drugs and sex traffickers. Just wait.
No, the above explanation makes sense and we have already seen this before. The DOD is not careful with their activities in commercial airspace, and the FAA is reacting to that by closing airspace when it realizes that potential or actual military activity is posing a risk to commercial flights. The DOD is too incompetent and/or does not care. I guess the tragedy at DCA wasn't enough for them. They act with hubris and impunity, and more innocent people will end up paying the price.
No, that doesn't make sense. Absolutely no one at Ft. Bliss was aware of air space closures. The Army was as surprised as anyone. There is some speculation that the El Paso City Council was likely to reject ICE demands to build detention facilities. So this was the federal government - Sean Duffy at DOT specifically - closing air space for 10 days out of spite. And that tracks with the overall cruelty and incompetence of the federal government in 2026.

The USA hasn’t shut an airport for 10 days since 9/11. To do it with no notice to airlines or travelers, is not normal.

According to multiple NYT sources, it wasn’t even military personnel at Fort Bliss that fired an anti-drone laser at alleged cartel drones. It was CBP who used the weapon on loan from DoD against a child’s party balloon they mistook for a drone. The Pentagon gave CBP an anti-aircraft weapon.

It was probably a “junior staffer.” Maybe the same one blamed for the disgusting Obama monkey video clip?
+1. Seems like a lot of blaming of “junior staffers” going around. Yet they don’t seem to exist.
