Some quick fixes could be tag each stop in different categories, and under extreme weather, only providing stops at category 1 stops (central stops). Or develop special bus routes in plan B and only activate plan B under emergencies. This is what transportation dept with all GIS data can easily do.
Or a virtual learning plan if they insist on staying closed until all the ice melts.
I loved the email where they said they weren’t permitted by the state to offer virtual learning. The state of Maryland authorizes school districts to offer virtual learning during an emergency weather event if they submit a plan.
MCPS posted a presentation about planning to do a plan in 2024 and never did it.

Have you seen the McPS attendance data? They have lot of kids absent even when it’s bright and sunny. Blaming the school buses and sidewalks without data sounds like McPS is trying to build a case justifying why it stayed closed longer than other school districts.
Yes. It sounds really childish to me. What they are saying is "SEE??? You MADE us open and LOOK what happened!! And is ALL YOUR FAULT!"
There were a handful of posters in the other thread that said schools should remain closed today. But no they opened because one family needed her kid to get an AP exam or AP materials. Stuff that's online.

+1000 The school bus routes and stops are not some securely guarded secret.
Do you seriously think this information is in a format that makes it efficient to identify streets/intersections with school bus service? It would take hours just to compile all of these individual PDF documents.
I’m sure AI or some kid at Blair SMCS could do it even faster. It’s ridiculous to say that these are unknown.
I love how your brain went right to unpaid child labor as the solution over having MCPS staff doing their gd jobs last week instead of binging on Netflix at home all last week.
It took 4 weeks for MCPS IT support to merge the two accounts it accidentally created for me in ParentVue. Even when this is something that apparently so frequently you have kids in ES/MS or MS/HS that they have a form to report the issue.
Tech is not their strong point. The magnet kid could do better.
So why are we discussing giving these fools more money next year?
Because my elementary school kid has 32 kids in their class this year and I don’t want it to be 34 next year.

Do you even do any work other than post complaints on DCUM about MCPS? Wait…Is that your job?
Do you think this is all coming from a single angry parent? The MCPS snow threads have 18k views each and thousands of posts.
That PP is clueless.

I think MCPS was asleep at the wheel all of last week, not realizing that this snowstorm was different from all the other storms we've had, and that snowplows had great difficulty clearing the ice... and so MCPS panicked over the weekend when they realized parents would be furious if Monday wasn't open, and threw everyone under the bus. I noticed they blamed homeowners as well.
I am still so angry that central office staff got a six-day vacation. They should have been working with the option to work from home.
