It’s not that I’m not proud of him but I don’t wear sweatshirts, polo shirts or printed t-shirts.

I also have nice cars and would never put a bumper sticker on it.

My kid is at a T20 school but I don’t feel a need to brag or advertise where they are.

It made me absurdly happy to see a tiny car sport a giant Princeton sticker, last year in the school pick-up line. Now that's a proud parent!

My son kind of hates his school, which is a super hot It university right now. I'm torn between wanting flex with the sticker of the Hot School that rejected a bunch of my insufferable neighbors vs skipping it since DS wishes he had go e somewhere else

Yep! And grandma was very excited to get her t-shirt as well! I still have the sweatshirt that my dad used to wear from my alma mater -- I was first gen. Dad passed away about 6 years ago, and he had worn that sweatshirt for more than 25 years. The collar was all frayed and the sweatshirt is faded, but the wear and tear tells me how proud he was to wear it.

Yes!! We have hats, sweatshirts, t-shirts and car stickers. Proud of them both.

My subway alum DH has been wearing Notre Dame gear since before I met him and throughout our kids' childhoods. Now we all wear it, including my son who is now an alum and my daughter, who we are hoping will get admitted. We are all definitely part of the cult! Even if DD is rejected, she will still wear her Irish gear proudly.

This topic brings up strong feelings! There was a previous post with the same question and people definitely had opinions. When I wear a sweatshirt, it is usually one from my alma mater, a Big Ten school. I love wearing them! My DD is likely going to a rival BT school, so I am struggling with the idea of betraying my school! But I have college gear from schools that family members attend and it's fun to wear them. I am sure I will quickly adapt to wearing something from my DD's school.

My kid does a sport at their school so we have a lot of merch when we go to the games (parents universally wear the merch to the games and other parent events). On occasion, I will wear the merch when going to the grocery store or exercising. But mostly I wear it at the games. Not a "top" DCUM school at all but a fun school that DC loves!

Like any good Michigan family we have everything from underwear to a toilet of maize and blue. We can never leave the house, or forget, to let everyone know every moment of the day that we support the most overrated public university in America.

Yes for clothing that we proudly wear on game day, watching from home though, despite kid not playing a sport or when visiting them there. And actually, initially was just my DH that bought stuff but then DC bought gear for rest of family and was touched by gesture, then again at dropoff at uni store, so much cute mugs! Nothing on car.

Our kids attended private schools and cringe at these car stickers and lawn signs. And the ones that have the school plus something with the sports team is like a double faux pas. I even saw one where it said my child is xx alumni. And yes, have a shirt and hat for their game day sports that only wore then.

I'd assume the kid would get his parents swag for their birthday or Christmas? At least that's what I did as a kid.

My kid goes to a school where the school spirit is infectious! We are so proud of our kid and love our visits. We are big fans of the school now, too. We have the logo on our cars and have hats, sweatshirts, etc. Even my dad proudly placed a grandpa bumper sticker on his car. It's fun and I don't see it as any different than having a Caps or Commanders sticker or carrying a logo'd bag. Don't overthink it. if you like it, do it!

PS - It's not cringe. Goodness!

That is so stupid. Why can’t a kid at an Ivy be proud and have school spirit? It reminds me of TJ HS that couldn’t announce national merit scholars because it might make the snowflakes feel bad about themselves.
