This may have been the case in the past, but isn't what private counselors are saying. The reduction in international students, federal funding and the age related enrollment "cliff" are impacting budgets so full pay kids are seeing a bump.Also full pay does not move the needle at the most competitive schools, at least not without sizable donations.

Not sure if this is how they typically due it - or if it is an indicator of fewer applications.
For my child, Fordham sent an email extending the application deadline and clarifying that only the application was due by that date - supporting documents can be submitted later
