In, with a 4.4 going into 12th; 9APs and one DE in 11th; another DE this year; Governor’s school; 4-year varsity (w/leadership this year); 4 years’ foreign language offered by FCPS, plus a “3” (highest) on the FCPS World Language exam in 7th grade in a different foreign language, plus an unusual EC (a competitive sport offered outside of school).

Is graduation GPA more often higher (more weighted classes) or lower (senioritis)?

My kids are at an IB school. I would think it would usually be higher, because most everyone is taking IB classes exclusively junior and senior years. My kids took plenty of high level classes 9th/10th grades but the only weighted ones were AP Gov and AP Spanish in sophomore year. Some kids will take AP computer science, too, I think.

We had similar stats and got deferred. DS is moving on and looking for an ED2 school.

That’s an incredibly difficult school and those are outstanding credentials. Hard to understand what UVA was (not) thinking.

I suspect because on Monday GMU also sends out their decision. He applied there too.

That’s probably because they have gotten flooded with EA apps since no additional essays. Those numbers will be up for sure.

But these are only ED numbers so interesting that they left more offers for the EA and RD rounds this year. Agree with the other poster that it must mean quality was down slightly.

It doesn’t have to mean that. They may already know that they got way more EA apps this year and EA is usually stronger applicant pool so they held back on some ED offers, even though quality was the same.
