For Pre-MLSN clubs that do not play NCSL at the u9-u12 level. What league do you play in? Genuinely curious as its not easy to find

Legit wondering what people are expecting clubs to be announcing? They’re gonna follow the applicable Age groups for their league and make individual decisions on letting impacted kids (ie those who would be repeating age groups under new system) play up. Same as now right?

Waiting to hear how they will structure u8-u12 which will play in a SY league but will become BY at u13.

They will say all sort of nice things about how these changes will benefit your kid.

Aren’t all u9-u12 leagues governed by USYS which said they will go SY? I think these age groups are stuck with SY based teams no matter what

Some MLSN clubs in socal have already said they are keeping BY at the feeder ages. They will play in a SY league but just play up. Too difficult to change halfway through.

What a mess. So we will have all the MLSN ulittle teams playing up a year in NCSL while the ECNL ulittles will stay SY and play their own age. When did soccer become such a shitstorm.

Some MLSN clubs have posted tryouts (mostly in socal) and some will stick with BY and some are moving to SY at the feeder ages. It varies. We are waiting on info from our club.

He's a starter on his u16 AD team now, playing 75% of the game, there's no universe in which dropping a year is good for his development or would prepare him to make the Homegrown team.

What the impact of that will be we'll see. I let him know last night and we'll wait for comms from the club and do MLS Fest. There is an ECNL club in town.

Wouldn't he have to make that same shift of "dropping a year down" if he went ECNL?? Or are you saying because ECNL is a lesser league, he can go there and play up at the age you want him to play at?

Fact: My kid has been on both MLS1 and ECNL team. Checking with HUDL Analytics. His statistics are top in the MLS1 team, but bottom in this ECNL team. Only our RL players who can not make the NL team, join the local MLS1 team.

We believe you 😉

This doesn’t really match with what happened. If the academies needed more time they would have make mlsn1 p2p SY next year and the academies could have followed at 27/28. There’s no reason to keep HG all SY because academies have kids on two year commitments.

Many of these Aug - Dec kids who are at or on the cusp of MLS 1 need to ask their clubs about whether they qualify to bioband. I have an Q4 2011 kid currently biobanding to a 2012 MLS 1 team (in mid Atlantic but not DC area). He did make his MLS 1 2011 team this year but as a bench players and was given the option to be a key starter/full game player on the younger team. It’s been phenomenal for him. He is now playing with kids closer to his size (though he is still among the smallest) and in the age group of the kids he is in school with. This is also and the age group he would be in ECNL or MLS 2 next year so doesn’t feel “off”. BUT, he is still getting a first team MLS 1 experience and is a top player on his squad. This could be a solve for many, especially late developers.

The proposed model is absurd. Keep it all BY and at least give late q3 and q4 a chance. My son is a q4 and doing fine, I’m good with the status quo of BY. Now I have to make sure the club doesn’t make him repeat this age group because premlsn ages will all be SY next year.
