It has been my professional experience that the students who forge through and make it in AP world are set for the rest of their high school career.

Yes, it is a college level course. In college, there’s no hand holding by parents.

Trust me, if the kid does the reading, pays attention in class and sticks with it, they will do well! And there’s that matter of the college credit that can be earned which is no small thing.

I also recommending that if you are complaining so much about the teacher, you need to talk to the teacher. Posting your angst on this forum is not going to help anyone.

Yes, she did. All of my friends now also keep up with their kids’ assignments.

Good luck with college

Y'all seem to be under the impression that those of us that keep track of our kids' school work are sitting there telling them what to do, when, doing their work for them, etc. Most of us are not. We just ask questions - what tests do you have coming up this week, how do you feel about it, do you need any help/additional resources - not actually do the work for them, or not allow them to take responsibility for their own school work.

DD has a physical planner with her, so she can keep track of her assignments/quizzes/tests. She asked for one, after she tried an app and didn't like it. She puts in information. She screws up occasionally by not entering all the information she needs to (for instance, this week, she scheduled work for when she has a school commitment). She learns from it, and does better next time.

I do stay up with her when she has to study. I'm a night owl anyway, and it's not a shift to my sleep schedule, but I think she appreciates that there is someone keeping her company.

AP means it is a college course.

Right. Being taken by 15 year olds. Who need more support than an 18 year old would, even if it's a parent staying up with them and keeping them company.

Maybe 15 is too young for a college course.........

Only when the teacher didn’t teach.

She absolutely did. She would stay up with me, and bring me food and drinks when I was up late studying. I still remember all that, and really appreciate it. Now more than when I was a kid.

I was pretty sure it would be up by now, but not so much. My kid is not doing the retake, but I do feel for the ones that are.

Looks like the next test is also the same format - 2 units at a time. I cannot begin to tell you how much I hate that. It's a lot of material to cover during a review.

It is, but the actual AP exam covers all 9 units. I can sort of see the thought process behind combining units. Also, unit 3 is very short - it only had 4 sections. Heimler will get us through!

It’s unbelievably lazy on the teacher’s part. The kids should have feedback on their SAQs by now. There is no excuse.

DD was laughing at me thinking that it will be graded any time soon. She said maybe at the end of quarter, more likely by the time the final grades are due.
