Not a "my country love it or leave" sort of person, but if you really prioritize immigrants and immigration and you think they are your friends, maybe you might be happier in another country.

Just saying these people I don't typically count as my friends. Let me diagram it.

A is friends with B. B is an immigrant. B doesn't give C the time of day. B probably also doesn't care much about A, unless they are rich. B probably also doesn't care for A.

Just bringing this, up because of in terms of friendship liberals are bringing in large swaths of people that really aren't our friends. Yes, these are our neighbors and our co-workers school mates. Well unless of course you live over in the economically segregated good school areas.

I mean if friendship is important then you have to take that into consideration.

Am I ok with it? No. But is it happening? Yes. I have not had any dramatic situations with friends but I do find myself drifting from those who do not share my values. But I cannot talk openly to someone about how I am feeling about the world around me if they don't care about the same things that I do.

People say that, but I honestly don’t know how that would work.

I’m the PP. It’s an unfortunate situation, but we aren’t saddened by it. I feel more for my MIL who lives with them. She doesn’t like seeing what has happened to her son and his family. The last I heard she was upset that they aren’t giving any immunizations to the great grandchild because they don’t want the child to become autistic.


The country is purple, not red or blue. We need an awakening, not a divorce. At some point people need to have some sense slapped into them to understand that the delusional demagoguery that they are so enamored with is not the answer.

NP. Harris/Biden voter here. I have removed people from my life (fortunately not good friends) who I saw celebrating family separations at the border. Separating parents from children is evil. I cannot have people in my life who want that.

I have decided I am also going to remove people who support medicalized youth gender transition. The evidence of harm to the most vulnerable children is simply too great, and just like the horrific family separations, I can’t be friends with people who advocate for hurting children.

19 years ago, no.

Now that the right is fine with disappearing people and sending them to camps, I really don't want to be friends with anyone right wing. I will be professional and baseline friendly, but I don't want them in my life on a regular basis.

OP this thread is a good indication of the world your child is living in and why she is behaving the way she is. I would just keep talking to her and model openness to other opinions. It’s also helpful if you have family who get along and are on different sides of the aisle.

What do you make of Geoffrey Ingersoll's violent rhetoric? And please try to come up with comparable rhetoric from a journalist, politician, or public figure (not a random teenager on twitter) on the other side.

They are always victims.

One who wants to have like 8 kids said “what about my rights?” regarding birth control and abortion. Uh, lady, has anyone told you you’re not allowed to have 8 children? The perceived victimhood is off the charts- they can’t see anyone different than them having rights without somehow feeling that something is being taken away from them.

And yet I still talk to one old man who voted for Trump... the more I talk to him, the more I persuade him that his support was misplaced.
