op, I would guess the look (esp of the politician’s wife) is emulating the current look of a lot of women in politics and/or under the public eye (of their own right or via being a spouse of someone in the field). as examples, the trump wife and daughters
It's the Trump administration approved look, so it's odd that the OP mentions not being in the DMV area because it seems to be the desired look now.

Honestly most men probably like a middle ground. That is to say, they don't like the dry, horsey, rail thin WASP type nor do they like the over-the-top Kardashian type with fake everything. Instead, there's probably a pleasant middle ground.

Not someone who wears any of the things mentioned, but would never call another person lowclass because of something they wear.
I call complete bs on that. In any human interaction we all size up people and put them in boxes and make assumptions the minute we meet them. It’s important for survival.
I know you feel like you’re about to die when you can’t be the absolute b itch you are in your cowardly mind, but faking a better personality won’t change your “survival,” slob.
