I know politics and polarization have made everything harder and I don't want a school to have to be political, but it does have to have values and purpose. How are there parents who are surprised no statement was made about Charlie Kirk when the schools are covered with rainbow symbols and Charlie Kirk was full of judgement and hate? How can a school with rainbow symbols everywhere have a culture that is so unwelcoming to trans or nonbinary kids? The stories shared at Shrinemont - how can the admin just ignore ignore ignore and still claim to value each child as a child of god?

Really? Are you still that ignorant?

Are YOU?

Charlie Kirk didn’t think LGBTQ individuals deserved equal rights. He said jews controlled “colleges and nonprofits”. He said Ketanji Jackson Brown was a diversity hire. And in 2021, he called George Floyd — the Black man whose murder by a “scumbag” who wasn’t worthy of the attention. That’s how he spoke about the dead. How is that not hatred and judgement?

And how can you expect an Episcopal school to support or give space to those views?

Yep. Unless there are details provided about what was said and apparently ignored, I call BS on the Shrinemont story. Whatever.

Since you consistently provide no details about your shrinemont claims, no one can answer you.

The school is very welcoming to trans and nonbinary students. There are many such in the upper school. My kid’s friend group of about a dozen students has at least three NB members alone. All quite happy, accepted, and welcomed at the school.

THIS. This is what is happening at the school. This is the source of the strife. The MAGA families are angry because education is filled with empathy, diversity, and an accurate telling of history. Education is anti fascist by nature. They have literally everything they could ever want but they can’t push education spaces to their wacko ideology. They also can’t comprehend that “liberal” families can actually pay the tuition and donate to the school.

Wow! You clearly have no idea what you are stating.

You probably should have read up on what the Episcopal Church values before you sent your children there then.

There is more than one poster here and no one is deranged. They just have different opinions than you and are having a different experience at the school. The school needs to stay in the middle, moderate area to continue to attract families and thrive. No one said the upper school had uniforms before! It sounded like they just want all campuses to have uniforms. I would agree with this. The kids look like crap most days. I feel bad for the girl moms who are constantly fighting with their daughters about their clothes and outfits and how low cut, short things are that has to be brutal. There are many people at the school who are not Episcopal and don’t know anything about the Episcopal Church, including me. I am republican, jewish, conservative with a kid at the school.

I attended, beginning in 1980, and the US never had uniforms.
no one said the upper school had uniforms. They said that we want them and the kids want them! I have heard they would like them back at the middle school.

Yes they did. Someone posted “for the love of god bring back the uniforms to the Upper School”. So read it again.

Sounds like you don’t understand what an Episcopal education/school is (and your kid probably doesn’t go to SSSAS and you’re a troll). I am an SSSAS parent, a lifelong Episcopalian and went to an Episcopal day school as a kid. SSSAS is a church school run under the umbrella of the diocese and operates accordingly. It’s not a high Episcopal school, it’s not Anglican, it’s not Catholic and it’s not evangelical. It’s already “leaning in” to what sect of Christianity it is: Episcopal.

There never was a uniform at SSSAS or St Agnes in recent history so not sure what nonsense you’re posting. Again, shows you’re just a troll.

Just posted and hit enter too soon. I attended beginning in 1980. PP probably thinks she has seen photos of US uniforms, but there were never uniforms other than athletic ones. The old athletic ones were polos and plaid kilts, so in photos they look more like regular uniforms, but they were only for games. We had piped cotton shorts and polos for PE and practices
