Of course it won't. However, this has the makings of being a very long shutdown - which won't collapse the country but isn't really good for any part of the country. And worse for the DMV, fwiw.

Even if the Dems win that seat in TN it would be 219-216. That would mean two seats need to flip to make a Dem majority.

I think the House is likely to switch to Dems prior to the midterms. Looks like the upcoming special in TN will flip to a Dem. Then, I think Ds would just need to flip one more seat if there’s another special.

Exactly. Republicans have both the senate and the house. They can pass anything they want without any dem votes. Dems have no control. If Rs don’t pass a CR that’s on them.

Well then perhaps republicans should meet with democrats and negotiate with them if they want their votes. There’s no obligation to vote for a bill when you’re shut out of the process.

I wish the GOP would be blamed but I really don't think that's the case. Yes, the GOP controls all of Congress and the White House but they also totally own the media platforms and will be shouting from the rooftops how the Dems are to blame because they blocked the bill. As much as I would like the Dems to push back, I don't think they win anything with the general public if they do. Who knows how long this shutdown would last and Trump and his minions certainly won't care.



Only MAGA will blame Dems.

Trump said he's not going to meet with Democratic leaders — hours after agreeing to meet with them — to discuss avoiding a government shutdown.

The government shuts down in a week.

The House, Senate and white House are all controlled by the GOP. The Senate needs 60 votes to pass a spending bill.

How they will get there without meeting with the democrats is...a question.
