Someone upthread said Canada should be immunizing US citizens at the border. Do you know that Canada, like the EU, only vaccinates adults over 65 and those with certain conditions? Their restrictions are even tighter than these new US conditions. Literally, over half the US can get the vaccination because obesity is one of the conditions that makes one eligible; as is anxiety and depression. Pretty much everyone on this site is covered. So to call this a "humanitarian" crisis is beyond hysteria. And comes from a place of complete disinformation.

“In an update today on Bluesky, the Times reported that CVS has said it can offer the vaccine in 13 of the 16 states with a doctor's prescription, which still adds a barrier to vaccination. The vaccine is still apparently barred in Massachusetts, Nevada, and New Mexico.”
BARRED.
Nobody thinks this is more asinine than me but it’s not barred-this means (until states change their regulations) the pharmacist can’t just give it to walk ins-if you get an rx from your doctor (which is for sure a hassle and will prevent many people from having access) you can still get it.

No, you didn’t read the press release. CVS won’t give the COVID vaccine to ANYBODY in Massachusetts, prescription or not. NO VACCINES FOR YOU!!
But would you be able to get one from your doctor if you live in one of those states and meet the criteria?

By reporting it as though it is happening (while DJT is on TV talking about Operation Warp Speed as his great achievement, no less!), this piece is furthering that aim.

I had called around earlier in the week and nobody has the new vaccine in stock yet supposed to be released mid September but who knows - maybe they won’t let us have it at all. If the corporate shills at Walgreens and Walmart follow in CVS’s footsteps . . .
I’ve left a message with my doctor’s office to see if they can administer the vaccine but I’m sure they don’t have newest updated vaccine in stock yet either. And maybe this administration isn’t going to let it be released.
Canada needs to offer mass vaccination to US citizens at their border cities - obviously we’ll have to pay whatever they ask but this is a humanitarian issue.
RFK Jr. wants the ‘mitochondrially challenged’ to just die, I think.
Hopefully they can administer it but if not they can write you an rx.

Perhaps that’s why most doctors aren’t recommending it for kids and healthy adults any longer?
FTR I got the original vax and was boosted, but I haven’t opted for continual covid vaccines. I’m also a lifelong liberal who would never vote for a R. But my pediatrician stopped recommending the covid vaccine a while ago based on “the science,” so I feel like research has evolved.
Instead of a knee-jerk reaction, perhaps there is a middle ground?
This is such a sensible response. As a middle aged late woman home right now with my first ever bout of Covid, even I support a common sense, open-minded understanding of this topic. For healthy people, the risks of the vaccines simply do not outweigh the risks of Covid. I don't feel great right now, but it's just a bad cold. I had the first round of shots and no boosters. Too many in the medical community are coming out with new recommendations about the safety and efficacy. I wish people would just be more open-minded instead of jumping right to insults of people who happen to have a different perspective.
You are full of it and don’t know what you are talking about. I’m in the same demographic as you and had Covid 8 months ago. Still struggling with altered taste buds and congestion. My doctor has told me it can take 1-2 years to resolve fully.
Also my WBC’s have mysteriously dropped and they are not sure if this is Covid related or not.
So, please present this mysterious data of which you speak!
Not to mention that no one knows what the implications of COVID may be in the years to come.
