Worth noting: there's a huge difference in burden between:
a) 40-50 hours worked when you choose to work them
b) 40-50 hours worked on a rigid preset schedule with no flexibility.
c) 40-50 hours worked at the short notice whim of your employer.
I've done 50+ hours with complete flexibility and found it considerably less taxing than a straight 40 hours on a fixed schedule.

Tech has always been the industry where you do a little bit of work for top pay. It's the opposite for the visa workers who have to grind out the hours. But look at the tech bros who went to DOGE, constantly claiming to work 80 hrs a week while staying in government subsidized housing. They spend most of their time inhaling drugs like the guy who got beat up by girls in Logan Circle at 3am while trying to buy drugs.
