NP and I don’t want to diminish others’ experiences but I work downtown and frequently have been downtown this summer and do not find the city terrifying. I live EOTP so I actually rarely spend any time in upper NW so it isn’t like I’m in some bubble in Ward 3.

Agreed. I get very frustrated when people claim DC is "very safe" or argue that crime is way down and we fixed the problem. We didn't. That doesn't mean I think Trump seizing control of MPD is the solution, it's obviously not. But refusing to acknowledge that DC has not done a good job addressing crime issues since Covid is not going to somehow liberate us from Trump's grasp.
Also watching the fiasco with Trayon White and the ineffective dithering of the council over the last few years makes it harder for me to explain to people outside DC why the city deserves self-rule and, ideally, some freaking Congressional representation. I shouldn't have to argue for those things, but I am tired of the city leadership providing ammunition to the people who want to deprive us of democratic governance.
Since when does making poor choices mean a loss of democracy though?

Many of us have had it with the homeless and teens in hoodies and masks when it’s 100 degrees.
I’m hoping the National Guard will move all the homeless to Ward 3 and the suburbs.

I live in moco and was thinking we will have a huge wave of homeless bussing heading out way
