My super fair DS squirmed way too much, so he's always just worn rash guards. So easy and then I only had to worry about his face getting burned.
Who said you have to put sunscreen on parts of your body that are covered by fabrics? Who said this. The comments here are just getting more and more bizarre.
Those of you who say sunscreen is a scam are just nuts.

You don't have to be all-or-nothing (even if that gets you more clicks as an influencer). It's lead to such dangerous behavior with sunscreen, vaccines, dieting etc. There are costs/benefits to everything. People have lost all ability to discern real risk and to make decisions based on reliable sources.
We seem to be more stupid than we used to be. Most people don't understand the very basic principles of statistics and this makes me hopeless.
Or maybe people can look at all the things like DDT and asbestos that scientists swore were safe once upon a time. Fool people enough times and they get skeptical.
We’re starting to realize we got scammed with fluoride and things like sunscreen are just getting started.
Anonymous wrote:They were talking about this on the radio this morning. Is this really a thing? Apparently there is a growing movement of people who argue the risks of sunscreen use outweighs the benefits. This is presumably due to the chemicals in sunscreen reaching your bloodstream, which they argue has all sorts of adverse health effects (probably cancer they'll argue).
I just cannot fathom the stupidity of Americans anymore, from completely debased from reality takes on vaccines to now ignoring how horrific melanoma can be to argue sunscreen isn't worth the risks to prevent cancers that can be almost 100% fatal.
When did America become so dumb?
Anonymous wrote:I use sunscreen but I think the adherence to sunscreen is over the top. We’re meant to see the sun. Most of us barely get sun exposure and when we do, we slather it on.
Balance is key here and we seem to have lost it.

I've seen adults making fun of "kids these days," "overprotective parents," and how "soft" everyone is because the kids are wearing shirts in the pool.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:You people realize that there are millions of people who labor in the sun every day and they don’t use sunscreen right?
They aren’t the ones getting the cancer. It’s office workers on vacation that get it. Maybe the science should look into it.
This is absolute bull shite.
You could not be more wrong.
I'm so sick of this. The current administration has taught people that you can just make crap up, scream it to the world, and some people will believe this.

This.
Do you rub lotions/makeup on your face and body? They're also chemicals. Spray perfume on yourself, use scented products? They're all chemicals but you freak over a very basic product that saves lives.
So, so stupid.

Melanoma isn’t anything like 100% fatal, though. My mom had it and lived cancer free for another 15 years. That said. I am still religious about sunscreen.
I have had to lighten up a little as my kids get older because teen boys go do things and aren’t going to be as careful as one would prefer. Oh well.
It doesn’t need to be 100% fatal to die from it.
In 2025, deaths expected:
About 8,430 people are expected to die of melanoma (about 5,470 men and 2,960 women).
8,430 / 330,000,000 = 0.00255% I'll take my chances and use chemicals all over my body very sparingly.

Which sunscreen has the healthy ingredients?
Well? Crickets.
Which ingredients do you consider healthy?
Was asking you guys that.
Titanium dioxide is generally considered a safe sunscreen ingredient.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Union (EU) have approved titanium dioxide as a safe sunscreen ingredient.
Dréno B, Alexis A, Chuberre B, Marinovich M. Safety of titanium dioxide nanoparticles in cosmetics. J Eur Acad Dermatol Venereol. 2019 Nov;33 Suppl 7:34-46. doi: 10.1111/jdv.15943. PMID: 31588611.
