Agreed 9/1 was the better choice. 🫡

Anonymous wrote:Fact: The registration system for my son's futsal team has already been updated to group by SY. Tryouts are next week. Birthdays in August are being placed with the younger birth year. August 2012 has tryouts with the 2013 team.
Speculation: Come Spring, registration systems will have been updated to use SY. August - December bdays will be registered with the younger birth year teams.
Speculation 2: ECNL/RL teams will play the second half of the season (April - June) using SY. Lower teams, NPL, flights 1, 2, 3... will play Summer tournaments using SY.

Here’s one for you.
GA definitely not doing any changes next year.
ECNL also not doing any changes this year and will start in 26/27.
26/27 will be transitional year where rules will be set to allow clubs and players more flexibility to help with the transition.
26/27 won't be a "transitional year". It will be the year teams change from BY to SY - period. If there are going to be any transitional rules, they will be in 25/26.
When people start realizing their current club might not be the best fit -- either losing PT or seeing a chance at a higher league elsewhere -- that's when movement will start.
Will USCS allow fall bdays to "play down" in the spring of 2026? Who knows.
How would this even work? ECNL league starts in Sept and ends in July. Are teams going to compleley change things up mid season?
This is why they should do something because if players are leaving to new teams for Fall 26 will they goto nationals with their BY team or new SY teams?
That’s kind of strange to play all the way into July potentially and then two weeks later leave to a new team for 30%-50% of the players.
I mean, that is exactly what is going to happen. Heck, plenty of kids are cut from a team (or just leave) and still play with the team all the way through July. It is a little awkward for everyone but not a 'real' problem.
Yes not uncommon but I think for half a team is getting cut it’s going to be different.
Will be weird but for players they will want to goto the college showcase/national's in the summer. Won’t be a big deal. One last go with old friends and teammates.
For our daughter who is still U-little, fall 2014. Her club just went ahead and make school year teams for this year. They'll just play up. She's already thought been asked to guest play with her old BY team, something she's delighted to do because why not go play with your old friends while you're making new friends! Maybe my perspective is skewed because my kid is super young, but none of this seems like that big of deal to me.
It’s definitely going to be a big deal once it’s official and new players start showing up and players/families start realizing they are on their way out or going from starter to bench player.
Some teams are going to be completely transformed and unrecognizable from the spring season before.
The world of youth soccer will shake and then settle, people will realize everything will be okay.
