Your post = I am a selfish ahole. None of that was necessary. Especially the gym. How rude to be huffing and puffing around people. Unlike you, some people actually work. They get two weeks of summer vacation that they would prefer not to have COVID for - whether they are at the beach, in Europe or visiting family. You suck.

2020 just called asking for its self righteous bullying behavior back.

It’s not bullying to call out selfish wholes like you. If you don’t like to hear it, then alter your behavior, snowflake.

Said the person terrified to step outside with a cold circulating around.

For some of us, a simple cold can last weeks and often end up in the hospital. Stay blessed and selfish.

+1. Everyone should stay home so PP can go out.

That would be appreciated. How hard is it to stay home sick? Two months ago I went to a doctor who was sick. I waited nine months for the specialist. I wish they would have canceled. He was masking and said he was due to a cold. If you are working with high risk patients at least give them an option to reschedule. Nice guy but I just needed a copy of my test results to see another specialist and they only would give them to me in person. I knew the results. I was sick for over a month with two rounds of steroids and antibiotics and given how hotel I have to do that it’s ruining my liver. Can I thank you for the spread and send you my medical bills since you are too selfish to stay home when sick? Or, are you willing to step in and cook, clean and drive my kids when I cannot so my spouse doesn’t have to miss work? Or, at least send me food in the hospital as hospital food sucks. At least I usually get a private room.

You are contagious before you feel sick. Now what?

Well a doctor who sees high risk patients should still be wearing a quality mask at work while seeing the patients.

For everyone else well you cannot help that, but you can at least stay home when ill and mask up if you truly must go out (dining and a haircut are not must do activities when ill)

If you are ill/contagious why yes. It's called giving a shit about others.
And if you must go out/to the store then wear a mask for 10 mins

But haven't you all gotten the vaccine? Doesn't the vaccine keep you safe? Surely you're not suggesting that perhaps the vaccine does not work. Because that would be against the rules of this board.

Idiot. We know the vaccine does not prevent covid 100%, that's just how this vax works---it's like the flu vax. It helps reduce the level of covid you get. However, if everyone got the vaccines routinely (yearly or every 6 months), everyone would be significantly safer.

DP: I'm not "terrified" I wear a high quality mask when I can. I dine out, outside if weather allows it, but go to restaurants. But I we are a mask when possible. I've had covid once and hardly been sick in the last 5 years. I got covid from maskless for 3+ hours in an arena with 20K+ people. Which shows me masks work.

I assume I have it now. Same symptoms as the first time for me . . . a scratchy throat and lots of gross mucus. I'm hoping I didn't pass it to my elderly dad before I was symptomatic.

My son's coworker tested positive. Normal, they work for a camp, and every summer some kid comes down with Covid. My son tested negative, but he's a little sniffy. I'm keeping my eye on those symptoms.

I would fly back from a trip while ill, if I could manage the trip. However, I mask with a quality mask, so I figure, I'm not the issues. It's the 20+ others on the plane hacking away who are likely contagious with something that you need to be concerned about. But I woudlnt' initiate a trip if I had covid or the flu.

Yes we should all just sit inside for 2 weeks and it will be gone.

Most are only contagious for 5-7 days. You can also mask if you need to go out. But why would you want to infect others with any illness?!?!

Why would you go out and expose others when you know you have it? Yes, life can go on, but at a minimum wear a mask. Nobody wants to get sick from you and your selfishness

Yeah they could have done a much better job of describing the risks of COVID to the public. Some very smart people were going around saying anyone who is elderly would definitely die if they got COVID.

Public health often treats the public like we are stupid and it shows. They think regular people can't handle nuanced messages. Any maybe for many people that's true, but people will also be turned off and disengage when they see that the simplified message is just not true.

Dh just tested positive for it. He had done a home test that came up negative, but he went to urgent care after being sick for a week and he tested positive there. He apparently also has an ear infection.

DP here and I agree with you but if you want to minimize your chances of getting covid, wear a kn95 in indoor public places. I do, and I have not gotten covid yet (and my household has tested a lot for covid over the years). I have not been sick since January 2020!

You are lucky. I rarely go out, always mask, etc and my kid brought something home I got.

Yes you are clearly unlucky. Or have underlying issues. This is not normal in 2025. But you know that

What’s normal in 2025 is people acting casual about lots of people still getting sick enough to require doctors visits, medication, missed work etc… it’s not a cold, it costs us. And people still think it’s a joke.

I had it at the beginning of the month and my only symptoms were a slight fever for half a day and a really bad cough. The cough kept me up at night and lasted for about three days, so I went to the doctor for help with that and they tested me for a range of things. COVID it was. I didn't have a home test. Gave me a steroid for the cough. I declined the paxlovoid. But I was irritated bc I had to postpone a surgery for two weeks until it was over. Which also delayed my vacation because my surgery had to happen first.

So, um, yeah, not exactly a cold for all of us.

I buy the flu and covid tests as I have other health issues so I have to be careful as a cold can lead to a hospitalization.
