"some" men aren't monsters. At least half of all men are sexual predators. So no. Not most are decent. Most are the monsters.

I have had too many really bad situations with men to count started from being molested as a young child, then assaulted a few times as a teenager including sexual coercion and rape. I'm heart broken and don't trust men much anymore since most of my experience with them as been painful and negative.

I really hope women are teaching their children including their boys what is acceptable behavior specifically and what's not. I don't have much faith they are and that things will change. At least now girls have cell phones to call or text for help, call taxi's or ubers in my day we had none of those. Different times but the same issues I'm sure still happen.

The statistics and the stories here tell us otherwise. 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 20 boys is a victim of child sexual abuse and we're not even getting into the statistics of adult women assaulted.

I should add that a couple years later, a taxi driver was arrested at my college. He had killed two girls, one before I started and one while I was there.

Not kidnapped persay. I have had two weird experiences in a taxi (in college) and uber (as an older adult). In one, the driver was listening to creepy music and kept talking about how ‘violent’ it was. I felt really uncomfortable but didn’t have any options but letting him drop me off at my house. Fortunately, my roommates were home. The second time, the uber driver kept taking wrong turns and just seemed off. I told him to let me off at a gas station and he did (this was late at night). I went inside, told the clerk I felt uncomfortable and waited till he left.

When I was 6 and in a grocery store with my mother, this man got so close to me that he was touching me. I looked up at him and he was leering down at me and I knew it wasn’t good even then. My mother took me away and later told me that he followed us through the store so she got a security guard to walk us to the car. Once inside and after the guard left, he popped up to the window and wanted her to roll down the window to light his cigarette. Luckily she had a gun and pulled it on him. We tore out of the lot and he followed us home. She drove up and honked the horn and he only took off when my very tall, large dad come out the door to see what was wrong.
I’m sure she was in a complete state of panic but it’s terrifying to think he knew where we lived. We were in Texas and I’m confident I would have been trafficked to Mexico and sold.


Last time I was sure I was I trouble was when I was a teenager driving in back woods Georgia, broad day light. A car comes up and starts tailing me for a few miles. Then suddenly they put a siren on the roof to get me to pull over. I just had this gut instinct to not ever pull over and just kept driving, increasing speed. I figured if they were legit, they would call backup but they didn’t and this went on for 30 minutes or more and it was terrifying. We got to a more populated area and they just disappeared.

Both of these incidents happened way before cell phones.

I was 13 and in a foreign city on a youth art trip. They told us not to leave the hotel without a male with us. I went out with some of the group, and a pair of middle aged men approached us, asking the teen boys we were with "how much" for me.

Never questioned the rules again.

More episodes of street harassment/ general skeeziness than I can count but no attempted kidnapping.

Once with a girlfriend in Barbados - was a cab driver and he eventually let us go - we booked flights off the island the next day.

When I was pregnant and walking in Georgetown some lady in an SUV asked me if I wanted a ride. I can’t explain it but had the worst gut feeling. Can’t remember what I said but the interaction disturbs me to this day.

No but I was almost raped at a party my first or second weekend at college

Two experiences, one good one bad. Good- Age 7 flipped my bike and hit my head ( no helmet in those days). Was bruised and stunned. Two men in a truck stooped and told they lived nearby and would give me a ride home. Wasn’t wanting to, but must have had a concussion. They did get me home safely. Never told my parents as I knew I shouldn’t get a ride with strangers. Bad- Early 20s, stopped to get milk as grocery store. When I got out of the car they shoved me back into cat in backseat of an 2 door car. Were trying andto kidnap me. Fought with each one individually- first one had a knife on me, tried to get car key from me, but I got it away from him. Second guy left, but then came back after first got grabbed the key, as I got the knife. He came back but was unable to get in car as I had seat flipped forward to get out. He threatened to break my leg, but I wasn’t going with them. They got away with the car. Two weeks later they were arrested after first one was bragging at party and called the police. Girlfriend of first one turned the second one in. Both ended up pleading guilty and got 15 years.

When I was 5 a man offered me a dime to get in his car to “work for him”. He was young, probably 20s, wearing a yellow mac on a sunny day. I’m never forget it.
A friend is mine accepted a ride from a guy in a sports car when she was 12 (😳), to go to the neighborhood pool. Thankfully she got out at the next light after he offered her a beer.
My mom had talked to me about stranger danger, I guess hers did not.
