For some types of work, such as IT or STEM, that is true. Good luck recruiting a Cisco CCIE for what a GS-2210-11 makes.

It's only going to get worse. Many people accepted the lower salaries because of the pension and the stability. Trump has destroyed that, so the government will need to pay at least market or perhaps even a premium.

LOL! No!

People would still flock to government jobs because you get paid for working 1-2 hours a day.

That’s what Bongino used to lie about on his podcasts before becoming a government worker. Now he is all over FOX News whining about how hard he has to work and he doesn’t like it, not one bit.

One tradeoff is that jobs in the excepted civil service have no job protections. They are even outside the purview of the MSPB. One can be terminated with no notice and without giving a cause.

No, you don't. Ask any GG person at Ft Meade or Langley...
This is false.

Excepted service is a hiring authority - it has nothing to do with how you are fired. After probation ends you have the same protections as competitive service does, including the MSPB.

No, you don’t. Fox News isn’t reality.

I am a fed in cybersecurity for a government agency, and I am making 270K/yr in salary. That's a very competitive salary.

BS

Have you ever heard of CISA pay? Folks at CISA or SEC make that kind of money.

There are specialists who can make more than the GS cap. Physicians come to mind.

Name the job and agency. You’re full of it.

IRS IT department.

My neighbor is a full time employee at one company and is also a full time contractor at IRS. His supervisor at IRS works even less.

So a contracting company is committing fraud

How is it fraud? I mean when I worked big 4 I be on several clients at same time. I bill hours but not give specific times. Maybe same thing.

And guess what 25 years was a website called slideshow which had tons of books in form of a PowerPoint. I recall consultants used to pre smart phones hit print, shove it in folder at client and read a book when no work. I studied my CPA at a client. They don’t give you enough work in 2025 people just do a second job. How is that different jogging, cooking, doing laundry, watching Netflix on downtime when WFH?
