I agree; they didn't deal with any of their issues, they both acted like untrustworthy jerks in different ways over the last few episodes, and then they just...got married. However, those characters do seem like the type to do something grand after a depressive period, so I guess it makes sense. I could see a part 2 six months later where they're no longer together. (I also didn't get the sister character getting back with her ex-husband. I love to see Andrew Rannells in ANYTHING but he was so seriously miscast in that role. I assume it's just because he's pretty close with Lena Dunham?)

To be clear, I liked the show. I don't think it was as strong as "Girls" (which I recently rewatched and think is a truly great show, in all its cringey millennial glory) but it was enjoyable and quirky and interesting. Will Sharpe was absolutely excellent and there were some great supporting actors.

Andrew Scott was hilarious in this (and so not like his other characters). This is his second project with Lena Dunham!

Kinda weird how the showrunners of Industry don't really acknowledge her. Lena does not follow any of them on IG or the Industry page. They all follow her. Clearly some sort of professional breakup. Dunham does follow Marisa Abela, the female lead on Industry.

That's interesting-- I remember seeing that she directed the very first episode of Industry and was like, huh, good for her. It was very well done. And there was a least one person from Industry in Too Much. Wonder what happened there.

Will Sharpe is really the star of the show. He was good in "White Lotus" but didn't play a character that was particularly noteworthy; he's excellent in this.

Dunham’s besties with Taylor Swift. But she will never hold a candle to Taylor as far as talent or looks, and Lena knows that.

So it’s painfully obvious how desperate she is to try to make herself even remotely relevant by being as loud, crude, obnoxious, and even gross, as she can be.

All this adds up to making her really toxic and ugly-on-the-inside. She is just a miserable human being.

(The one exception, ironically, being Felix and his French ex who had great chemistry together). Neither Jess nor Felix had compelling qualities to make you root for them. Jess was very banal and Will was rudderless and boring. They had dumb conversations and immature fights.

I think Girls was well done so this is not a Lena bash. Actually I found her enjoyable in this show. But the characters/cast did not work together. It seems like she cast a lot of favorite/pet actors who did not embody their characters well and did not mesh well together. Zev was also not believable as someone two girls would be competing for.

C minus

Polly cared for Felix more unselfishly than any of the other couples in the entire show. I felt really badly for her.

Honestly, she is hot, young, single and probably dodged a trainwreck. She will be ok!

Agree. And I did not find it believable that Felix would have been out at a "glue your hands to the road" protest. He was in the midst of a depressive crisis. I feel like Dunham came up with that random situation to create a dramatic declaration of love and forgiveness. I just don't believe Felix would have been at that protest that day.
