This. They chose the wrong date.

So go to work. LOL. We know you will just enjoy the day like everyone else and are just signaling you're not "woke" (aka, you are not capable of not being a jerk).
Are the markets closed in June 19th?
Is day care and summer school closed?
Or is this another Club Fed, usps “holiday?”
No
Yes in liberal cities
Yes

It was never extra, they downgraded some other Monday federal holiday which you now work and your kids don’t go to school. Enjoy!
Which holiday did they downgrade?

Most of the country is not aware it’s a day off for federal level workers. Oh well.
It’s an interesting bit and story of history (how long it took to spread the news west in an expanding country land) but there are millions of those fascinating stories in history.
Most of the 1870s country, world and current population considered the final surrender date the end of the civil war/ U.S. slavery plus the continuation of America as one.

Too many non-working holidays in America. It is costing our Country $BILLIONS OF DOLLARS to keep all of these businesses closed. The workers don’t want it either! Soon we’ll end up having a holiday for every once working day of the year. It must change if we are going to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
It’s 11 federal holidays total. Take out Columbus Day if you want to take one out. Even if you don’t care about Juneteenth why are we rejecting a summer holiday.
No one cares about random federal holidays except Wash DC federal workers.
You're right. Only DC has bank employees, post office employees, govt contractors, and federal employees.

The Emancipation Proclamation was of enormous consequence but why not combine it with MLK Day as has been done with Presidents Day. More than half the states don’t see it as a holiday. The Feds get a holiday but the rest of us don’t.
My ex works for Meta and has a day off

They really ought to replace Columbus Day with Immigrants Day. Unless you’re Native American, we are all descended from immigrants. I can’t move to Germany and become “German.” But anyone can move to the United States and become an “American.” It’s something powerfully unique to our country and has been one of the main contributors to American dominance and ingenuity.
Why we don’t have a holiday to celebration immigrants just blows my mind. It would actually be a great way to integrate them into American society.
