It's not your job to be livid. Stay out of it.

Is it a cultural issue? Not everyone does things in a purely American style. May be she sees no problem with it, bride doesn't mind and groom didn't request anything specific so this woman has no idea of why someone would go livid over it.

My niece got engaged recently. Because it’s not 1930, the couple had already discussed and she knew a proposal was in the works.

He spoke to my sister who told me and her bff as well. In fact, the mother of the groom also knew and sent excited texts to the brides mom about it.

No one hates anyone, the couple does not consider themselves trampled or mistreated, grooms mother is in no way “livid.” That’s because we are part of a normal family not some would be real housewives s-show.

Someday, it could be OP in other MIL's shoes—accidentally saying the wrong thing, missing a cue, or needing a little extra understanding. So today, she should try to set a precedent of compassion by extending the same kindness and grace she hopes to receive herself.
