There's a conservative part of the Catholic church in America that identifies more with evangelical Christians in their political worldviews. Basically, Christian nationalism will expand to include these Catholics, unlike 100 years ago when they would have been targets of Christian nationalist harassment/persecution.

Yep, I’ve been telling my elderly conservative Catholic parents that Trump is using them and will turn on them when it will suit him, but they won’t have it all call me a leftist (whatever that means to them). Not veterans (or suckers as Trump calls them), women (nasty, dogs, etc), immigrants (rapists), but just because you are all morally corrupt and lack human decency doesn’t mean I have to accept Trump insulting a person’s faith or religious leaders.
