Just trying to dunk on Biden, probably. You’d think JD would be offended too but I think he’s walking back his Catholic identity already.
There's a conservative part of the Catholic church in America that identifies more with evangelical Christians in their political worldviews. Basically, Christian nationalism will expand to include these Catholics, unlike 100 years ago when they would have been targets of Christian nationalist harassment/persecution.
That’s what these conservative Catholics think, but the hatred runs very deep. They’re going to learn that the hard way what the Protestants think of them and honestly, I’m gonna love every second of it.
Yep, I’ve been telling my elderly conservative Catholic parents that Trump is using them and will turn on them when it will suit him, but they won’t have it all call me a leftist (whatever that means to them). Well, if seeing their religion openly mocked by him doesn’t cause them to rethink things, nothing will. Guess they never read or watched watched Sophie’s Choice.
“Openly mocked”? Like Harris’s campaign surrogate and chair Whitmer doing a sexual lesbian mock Eucharist with a Dorito, after cracking jokes about late-term abortions? You all claimed this was all nbd and hilarious!
Exactly. I love the selective outrage - per usual with this crowd.

I'm embarrassed for both of them that they think the death of a pope and the solemn act of replacing him is a joke. And for you, pp, that you think this is funny.
Oh, please. The pope was a human being, a man - not a deity. And he would be the first person to say so. He lived a long life and then he died. Life goes on and no one is being disrespectful by lightheartedly joking about who his successor will be. Get a grip.
No. I know Trumpers do not show respect to anyone. Not veterans (or suckers as Trump calls them), women (nasty, dogs, etc), immigrants (rapists), but just because you are all morally corrupt and lack human decency doesn’t mean I have to accept Trump insulting a person’s faith or religious leaders. It’s not a joke and it’s not funny.
So you felt equally outraged about this, right?

Both Trump’s meme post and this are inexcusable mockings of the Catholic Church. The Eucharist mocking is worse, but both politicians should apologize. And of course neither would ever do an equivalent mocking of Judaism or Islam.
