My father is over 65 and laughed it off so I just said fine come after the baby gets her shots. My sister and mother want to visit and I'm going to ask them to get the shot if they want to come before 2 months (well not sure if we need to wait until 4, have to ask my doctor).
You anti-vaccine people suck. Your children help spread disease - frankly I think they should allow lawsuits for that.
If your children have had the vaccinations, then why are you worried about your kids getting sick?
Oh wait, yea, I know, vaccines actually aren't 100% effective, so even if you've had the shots not only have you opened up yourself to dangerous side effects, you are always operating in the misguided belief that you won't get sick. And the vaccinations wear off anyway over time.
Me, I was born in the 1950's, had the two vaccinations that were available at the time - had a bad reaction to both. Caught all the childhood diseases (including pertussis) and survived. I'm a happy, healthy, intelligent, well-read 54 year old, prefer to eat organic food, take no prescription medicines, have only had one flu shot when I had to travel extensively during flu season (felt sick as a dog afterward) have no medical issues and I intend to stay that way.
We live in the USA. We spout to all the world what a wonderful life we have - shouting about our freedom, individual rights and personal expression. If some people want their children vaccinated, that's fine by me. I only hope that they do not do so uninformed as to the side effects. I will not be getting the pertussis vaccination despite the medical profession trying to tell me that my natural immunity wears off over time. It does not. Only vaccinated immunity lessens over time.
