If I moved to Florida in 2020 and have been pretending to work in DC for five years I may take it.
If I am low level mom who has young kids no childcare and milking it I may take it.
If I moved to exurbs way way out and dont feel like commuting in each day and can get a higher paying job may take.

Too bad you are not getting the option. The contractors are going to get slaughtered. Good luck.

Of course you're going to take the deferred resignation. It's 8 months of pay for doing nothing, and at the end of it, it's doubtful that you'll have difficulty finding a new job.
I think lots of the folks on here are very senior and/or in specialized roles where it makes no sense to take the deferred resignation. But try to put yourselves in the shoes of younger people in less specialized areas.
There is no legal guarantee that you will be paid. No congressionally funded budget for it. Imagine a 25 year old paralegal taking this deal only to realize they are unemployed, without severance and now required to work according to the email but not be paid.
Better and safer to ignore this nonsense.

How do you even know whether this is the secretary writing and sending the email? Don’t believe all that you read. Wake up.
