This is such bs. “The system” works fine. This isn’t about a few bad apples either. It’s a strategic move to reduce the federal workforce by eliminating one of the attributes of federal employment for many (no where near all) federal employees.

I’m curious what the actual policy is going to look like at my agency, which has a huge remote workforce spread across the country. I expect a lot of people will leave. Things are about to get real slow.

Where did it say that? It said no telework ever?

My husband and I are both Feds. Logic says we need to hedge our bets and have one of us leave. For what we do, there are a lot of remote options. The work is in all major cities but the folks with the skills are concentrated in DC and NY. Of course now we are arguing with each other over who is more marketable and should look for a job.

Hey, I’m happy because the pickleball courts will now be open during the workday. Can’t count the number of “remote workers” I play with regularly in Arlington.

That’s how I read it too. I’ve had a job for 20+ years where I’ve been on call. I’ve responded countless times at 3am. We’ve spent a ton of money making sure our team can all respond from home 24/7.
But no one will die if we don’t, so I guess that’s not happening any more.
Our program has a problem at 7pm Friday night, I guess we’ll just be down until Monday.
