According to data analytics company Luminate, per Billboard, Underwood's catalog racked up 1.46 million on-demand streams in the U.S. on Monday, the day of the inauguration. That number is nearly 6 percent lower than the Monday before (January 13).

Things looked brighter for Underwood in terms of digital sales, however, gaining "a couple hundred extra daily downloads" on Monday, Billboard noted of Luminate's report — though she still received less than 1,000 downloads that day.

Underwood appeared to fare the same as fellow inauguration performer Nelly, who helmed a set at the Liberty Inaugural Ball. Like Underwood, the "Country Grammar" rapper's streams also dipped around 5 percent on Inauguration Day, compared to Monday, January 13. Similarly, he garnered a few hundred more digital downloads on Monday, January 20.

But any respect I might have had for her performance was completely negated by her failure to shake hands with VP Harris. She did shake hands with Biden, Trump, and Vance. Gratuitously disrespectful behavior.

Oh, stop. Kamala (who I voted for) was clapping and didn't offer her hand. Underwood (who I'm not a fan of) dealt with a 1-minute awkward silence, and then landed a fairly challenging song a capella before turning around and shaking hands with Biden, then Trump and Vance.

Zero disrespect shown, so I'm not sure why PP had to show some. Clown behavior.

That’s not a challenging song for someone who has been singing professionally for decades.

Carrie doesn't have to resort to prancing around and doing sexy moves in skimpy clothes. (Same for Whitney).

Did you seriously just compare Carrie Underwood to Whitney?! They are not in the same league. Not even close!

Wild. That is like comparing a Hundai to a Rolls Royce.

At least she hasn’t wasted what talent she has on drugs.

Right. Just booze.

+100

Does no one remember when she fell over drunk and basically broke her face?

I'm that poster and did not compare Carrie to Whitney!! I just made sure to put Whitney in my post because I think she was the best female singer EVER!!

Liking Whitney Houston means you can’t be racist!

And your point? I voted for Harris, didn't watch the inauguration, and volunteered at my church for MLK missions. I did watch a clip of Carrie Ubderwood as I love her rendition of Amazing Grace.

100%. Not to mention basically any working Broadway actor or actress who routinely sings a cappella, on cue, in auditions if they want to hear a different song. Or if something goes wrong with the orchestra. Etc. It really isn’t that deep for a professional singer to sing a cappella live. Plus, as someone else mentioned, this is not a hard or challenging song. Even someone with simply a decent voice like Selena Gomez or Nicole Kidman could carry something like that off.

Popular singers who can and do sing live:

Jennifer Hudson
Lea Michele
Mariah Carey
Taylor Swift (no, she doens’t have a Whitney voice, but she hits notes, she sings live at all her shows, and it’s not a hard song)
Katy Perry
Ariana Grande
Cynthia Erivo
Lady Gaga
Adele
Rihanna
Billie Eilish (who chooses to whisper-sing a lot, stylistically, but can belt and use a mixed voice when she chooses to)
Miley Cyrus
Beyoncé
Michael Buble
The Weeknd
Justin Bieber
Bruno Mars
If you want to go country: Reba, Martina McBride, Dolly

Literally any of things singers can and do sing live, regularly, and could have done that today. Hell, go to your local high school and find the best singer in the show choir or the theater program.

not without music

Exactly. It can be hard to stay on key without music.

All you need to stay on key is that first note. It's not hard. I've done it lots of times and I'm not a professional.

I'm not getting out my tiny violin for anyone who sings for a n@zi rapist.
