Honestly, how can we put someone with those views and that judgement (coupled with a lack of respect for accepted rules of war) in charge of our weapons and troops?

Given that he’s made negative comments around women in the military as recent as November what does this suggest about his ability to read the room? Or his ability to work diplomatically?

If he’s a change agent, what large scale change has he implemented or overseen?


Republican questioners intimated that the key to recruitment is to eliminate DEI initiatives.

Like that will make the military more appealing to ethnic minority group members, women and LGBTQ individuals.


At this point, I hope all the young men who voted for the felon enlist. Let them get killed because of their gross incompetence and greed to take over other nations by force.

How many people have you directly supervised?
How big of a budget have you managed?
Your last job was as a weekend tee vee host, can you explain to me what skills are transferable, if any?

I mean it's great that Senators are pointing out his drinking and abuse but where are the questions asking about his qualifications? Make him explain!

Disagree that a drinking problem isn't relevant. Alcoholics are liars, who are often out of control when drunk (there are several incidences of him getting carried out of places, per Senator Kelly). It might be one thing if he was remotely qualified, but it's another that he's not in the least. How will the service members respect him?

This sums it up. He is not qualified to run the Pentagon, but blocking Gabbard and Patel are more important.


With all of their macho posturing, you would think the Republicans could grow some balls and turn down all unqualified nominees.

Who said they are limited to turning down two? Their role as laid out in the Constitution is to serve as a check on the executive. Not to lick his boots.
