Actually no, because OP said that was what she chose.

It is so sad that you misjudge others based upon your closed mind.

No, it's very common. A surprising number of judgy posters on DCUM proclaim that they "don't drink," and then when pressed a bit more, admit they have wine at weddings, champagne toasts, a beer while tailgating. But no sirree, they're not drinkers! It's ludicrous. If a drop of alcohol passes your lips, guess what? You're a drinker.

You sound psychotic. Not everyone who doesn't drink abstains because they are recovering alcoholics. Some of them don't drink at home or only on special occasions. The way you talk makes it sound like you are probably an alcoholic. Not everyone is like you. Godo luck with your recovery.

"These people had a sip of champagne on NYE, a glass of wine on their birthday, and a beer and hot dog at football game. That means they have as much of a drinking problem as I do so I'm not that bad!"

Ironically, they served champagne at midnight (which I do not particularly like).

The cardinal sin to me is that this morning they neither served but offered coffee (which they proudly proclaimed they do not drink). I will admit an addiction to morning coffee. Don’t you think it should be offered to overnight adult guests?????

Did they offer tea? Offering neither is weird to me and I always have both tea and coffee on hand. But, I'm pretty basic, so neither option is fancy.

This is my thought as well

This is cultural. I'm guessing the girlfriend is Indian and the parents are being super hospitable in the way that only immigrants would be. White people don't get it.

I'm so sick of Indians thinking they are the only culture in the world that values family or food or hospitality.

Classic DCUM bringing on your hatred and jealousy of Indian people.

No, I don't. You should have brought your own packets of instant coffee if you are so addicted.
