Thanks everyone for the info. That’s a relief that it is not only about whether they are in the pool—if I recall correctly, that is what they did for the CES lottery.

I’m not thrilled with my mail person either but fortunately informed delivery for us usually lets us know what will be delivered later that day. For us it will be a long wait until early evening.

The letter tells you if you got in the pool, and then if your child got a spot. You only have until Feb 2nd to decide if you want the spot.

Informed delivery these days may be several days behind reality. My mailman usually only shows up once or twice a week.

Just got the mail. It IS the letter - both whether you were in the pool and, I guess, whether you "won" the lottery. Very poorly written, but that's what it is.

FWIW, the practice has been one letter saying both whether the child was in pool AND whether they "won" the lottery if so. This has been criticized because it does not allow parents to challenge the "in pool" designation if there was an error, but I did not hear anything about changing the process this year.

Yes, I'm in the same boat. We're getting something in the mail today from the MCPS Division of Consortium Choice. Maybe it's the news! But it would also be very on-brand for MCPS to send a letter telling us that the process is delayed and they won't have decisions for a month. If anyone gets their mail this morning and could shed some light, it would be much appreciated!

DCC choice notifications are also coming out. I don't think magnet pool notifications would be coming from the DCC office, but, what do I know.

I hope this letter is not just about whether or not they are in the pool.

That would be most kids since acc to DCUM everyone gets A’s in mcps, especially elementary school.

Though it probably won't put them in the pool in time for the first round lottery, that might provide a basis for appeal. assuming other criteria were met, especially if difficulties in implementation of virtual was documented for your DC. That would place them in the lottery for later rounds (if any decline the invitation) and would provide a guaranteed offer of placement in AMP 7+ (or AIM, depending on which the local school has leading to Algebra in 7th).

As the PP said, even without the guarantee of central identification, additional placements in AMP 7+/AIM can be decided by the local MS based on data from the feeder ES.

Amp7+ is based on teacher recommendation

Identification for the advanced math track in 6th, which I think is amp 7+, isn’t contingent on getting into the tpms pool, correct? I ask because my child got a B first quarter in math 5/6 (thanks virtual compacted math), so I think won’t make the cut for the magnet pool, but is doing really well since then in grades and MAP scores.
