Some of that is due to the admissions process. Private colleges and universities tend to understand rigorous, tough grading, fewer AP’s etc. the larger public colleges have more “cuts” based on gpa. Number of AP’s etc. Many Big 3 students fare better with admissions to private schools than to the large state schools.
