This enforcement program is such an easy way to get violent criminals off the streets and out of communities it really raises a lot of questions about the priorities of those who oppose fare enforcement.

I saw two teen boys scaling a barrier in Rockville yesterday. It took one of them three tries but he did it. They looked like they just wanted to prove they could. No one paid any attention at all.

That doesn't say going after fare evaders is racist. It said the police have a history of racism.
No one is calling it racist. Some are questioning whether it is worth it, or whether public transit should be free.
I didn't say I wanted it free, although I wouldn't be opposed to that. People need to be able to get to work and family, even if they're poor. And for those that aren't poor, it would be good to encourage more people to take transit than to drive.
In the meantime, I'm fully supportive of this attempted crackdown.
Forgoing Air Jordanās would pay for a lot of bus fares.
