No it is not an issue. It is not worth the effort for few the “trapped” players. Go play rec.
Why are there so few trapped players? Oh, because they all drop out and stop playing.....
And there will still be trapped players with SY.
Since you are so knowledgeable please list all the school districts that begin the school year before 8/1.
My son is an August birthday in a state where the enrollment cutoff is September 1st. He'll go from playing with his grade level to playing with the class behind him who he has no connection to.

The plight of the ber kids will shift to the plight of the summer kids. Except you then have to deal with various schools having different cut off dates and parents being allowed to red shirt as desired, so a 4th grader could be 9 or 11. That doesn't make sports teams more equitable in any way.
Birth year makes perfect logical sense and you cant argue your way in or out, its a basic number.
It’s not by grade. It’s new cut off date that more align with school year but it doesn’t matter how many times u reclass the kid, he/ she will still be the same age group. You don’t get the benefit of reclassing the kids like basketball.

So your child started school early? With the change they can always play with classmates if that is what they want. Nothing stops you from playing up, it just may not be on the top team. All these manufactured grievances are exhausting.
