VDA 2011 played DCU twice this pre-season

DCU was obviously just mixing and experimenting with players all over the pitch

VDA didn't win any of those games

Move on

DCU also has 5 VDA players.

Are you saying there are 5 players on the DCU 2011's that used to be at VDA?

That could be politics or convenience.
Especially based on the connection between both organizations.

Not saying they aren't decent.

Move on DCU over rated, beaten by much smaller FC Delco.

ECNL making headway on MLS Next, watch out!

This statement won't age well after they move past this initial stage

Isn't VDA hanging with DCU across all the ages? Thought the 2011 VDA boys beat DCU at copa recently.

I'm sure you thought wrong.
Also, are you talking about a preseason scrimmage?

If the score is recorded into gotsport, its not a scrimmage.

If you're relying on gotsport, you have bigger issues.....

DCU doesn't waste their time with any of these clubs, nor does any academy tied to an MLS franchise. That poster doesn't know what hes talking about.

Was it a league game or a tournament with a finals and eventual Champion?

NP here. Our team got 3 invites (not saying which year or team), but the invites are odd because none of the 3 are in the upper tier of the team or among the strongest players of the team and none of them are consistent starters (2 aren't even starters at all and 1 just joined the team). I don't get it. I like the kids, and I am happy for them, but I could have picked at least 10 other kids on our team who are much stronger players and 5 of those 10 who are much, much better. Something is really off. And no, not sour grapes. But I do worry about how this will affect the team dynamics. It makes no sense, none.

I agree with you poster. The process seems subjective and affect team dynamics...and it's so early in the season that things can go south and negatively impact the team.

Every country on the planet makes pool selections.
No club will have their entire roster included.
You really are worried about the team falling apart because 3 kids were selected?

Does ECNL have an all-star game? Is everyone selected?

oh its coming next tryouts. Coaches seem to overlook how things are interconnected. Strong players that have carried teams that were overlooked take note of the politics and make adjustments down the road. Now that dust of movements have settled those little decisions have big ripples down the road once parents start talking. Parents that want whats best for their DCs will look to link w winning packages and throw their weight around come tryouts.

1000% things like this is like a rude awakening for parents who feel the coach will be fair and been loyal but overlooked

Anonymous wrote:You have to understand what these invitations mean. Clubs nominate their players and a certain number will be "chosen". How many invitations a club receives speaks more to the reputation of the coaches than the skills of the players. All of the big, well connected club coaches from ECNL/GA will get to send a few of their favorite players. The coaches decide who they want to reward based on any number of factors: recruiting and retaining players, placating parents, and yes politics. Talent factors in because a coach doesn't want to ruin their reputation by sending a terrible player, but it is not the only factor. If a player is chosen it means they are a good player and more importantly one of the coach favorites at that club. It does not mean the player will "called up" to USYNT training camps which is quite rare especially in this area.
