Because once my second child finally started sleeping through the night, I had absolutely zero desire to start all over with getting up every few hours again. And by that time, our oldest kid was big enough to start enjoying things that can be really hard for infants, like camping and spending the afternoon out of the house and going to amusement parks. It was just better for all of us to leave the infant stage and move on to the next phase of life.

Took about $100k in infertility treatments to get the two.

Man-to-man has an advantage over zone in terms of coverage.

Many people stop having children as soon as they get a difficult one. It's easy to keep having children if each one is a pleasant child with no issues.

But if your second child was autistic or had Down syndrome or some other issue that made your job as a parent 100 times harder, why on earth would you have more kids after that? If you had half a brain, you would stop at two in that case.

I grew up in a family with two kids so that always seemed like the number I had in mind. Never wanted more.

I think we need a spin-off thread called "if you can't understand or accept why people make different life decisions than you...why?

Feel like there has been about a thousand stupid debate threads about people's life choices and it just boils down to the fact that some people are going to make different life choices than you and that's okay.

Because only one spouse wanted more than 2.

Why would I want any at all?

I wanted more (we have two) but we could not responsibly afford to have more. And now that we're shelling out for college, I'm really happy to only have two. But ymmv.

Living through a global pandemic with a young child.

Because being the kind of parent my kid deserves needs rest, resources and time. I’m not selfish enough to deprive her of that.
