OP: sounds like you would be happier on a Ritz-Carlton cruise. Me too.
I just finished a multi-gen RC cruise yesterday (grandparents, DH & me, kids 10, 10, 7). four night trip, and DH and I care about food. Not the most fabulous food for sure, but all pretty decent and some delicious. We were on Allure, 3 State rooms with balcony. Shows were a lot of fun, kids loved the pools, minigolf, ping pong, etc. Coco cay day was great, RC has lots of shade and food options (skipped water park, grandparents footing bill) and we loved hanging at Chill Beach that day. I'd get the internet and whatever beverage package you want in advance, its cheaper that way.
I'd 100% do a cruise again, they got us on and off the cruise very quickly , staff was awesome throughout, would probably want to try NCL for the next one but I was happy with RC for this one.
