Will democrats learn that they have to field a good candidate, or will they persist in making the attack on any republican candidate their party’s only offering?
They are running a lifelong politician with parkinsons and blaming everyone else for their predicament. It’s crazy. They cannot move beyond their elderly candidates because the other elderly life long politicians who run their party are threatened by anyone who is new, young, or not an established party faithful.
Republicans are the same way; they have done everything to stop Trump and put one of their chosen in his place. They have all attacked him and been never trumpers, but at least republicans saw the writing on the wall- republicans want Trump. He’s not a lifelong political creature. He got the votes.
DNC chose Hillary because it was her turn, and she lost. It’s clear democrats don’t care what anyone wants, except their power brokers and donors. Instead of reflecting that Hillary is not likable and an arrogant, entitled person with baggage that would sink the titanic, they went on a huge russia bender that was a waste of everyone’s time.
You’re right that the DNC is reaping the costs of being anti democratic. It’s her turn was a horrible mantra. It’s nobody’s turn. This is not a monarchy.
I’m with her? Really? What about she’s with us. The DNC was fresh with Obama because he was an exciting fresh new face to Washington. Similar to Bill Clinton in 1992. They were exciting orators. John Edwards was also promising with his Southern charm but we saw that went from sugar to shit. He left in disgrace. So did Andrew Gillum in Florida
Three NY politicians had scandals (Spitzer, Anthony Weiner , Cuomo). Al Franken was Me Too’d . Elizabeth Warren was attacked for Pocahontas Gate. Kamala has the Willie Brown scandal .
They can’t find one decent candidate without scandal and instead of spending the last 6 years finding one , they spend all their time prosecuting and handwringing about Trump instead. If Trumps the bad guy, well who is the good guy ? Because it seems the Dems don’t have any left
You are exactly right. Obama was new, fresh, different. People liked him. He wasn’t a 75 year old white guy with a face like a crumpled napkin. He seemed genuine and earnest.
I don’t know if the DNC and RNC are willfully blind, deaf, and dumb, but the american voter does not want a perpetual political animal foisted upon them anymore. That’s over. Adapt or lose. Period. (Spoiler alert: they aren’t going to adapt.)

The silver lining is that (if we don’t go down the totalitarian path) they’ll be another election in four years and Trump will be as old and enfeebled as Joe is now.
Any thoughts on what a 2028 matchup might look like? It’s interesting because it could be a clean slate and neither party has done a good job of promoting younger candidates.
President Harris will be running for re-election in 2028.
On what exactly? Her monumental success as our border czar? And making fentanyl the #1 killer of Americans? Or letting hundreds of thousands children ‘go missing’ to get sold and raped every day?
Do tell!

The entire point of project 2025 is to remake the federal government and the agencies there under into MAGA’s image.
Thousands of experts will have been fired and replaced with right wing sycophants ( to Trumpism)
And what little of agencies exist, will have been effectively made irrelevant and powerless.
Our country will effectively be run by oligarchs like the Kochs.
It will take many presidential election cycles to undo the damage and that’s assuming democrats win all of those cycles.
This is Leonard Leo’s end game. Gotta give it to him. He really played the long game, and it looks like he’s won.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:If Trump wins there won’t be a 2028 election, because the Supreme Court recently allowed presidents broad and complete immunity from “official acts”. Trump co would find a way to ensure Republicans won in 2028 “for the good of the country” and could very easily do it covertly with these sweeping new powers. So yeah, no, with our new monarchy system things are pretty bad.
LOL. The media gets people to believe anything. SCOTUS ruling only confirmed current policy and what is obvious. The legal system does not interfere with what should be the executive branch’s powers. However Congress can still make laws and impeach a president. People should pay more attention in Civics class if they still teach it.

I’m guessing Whitmer vs. Vance. Or maybe Don Jr.
A Trump WH will harm the community, but this hyperbole doesn't help.
It isn't hyperbole.
They have already said they will round up "illegal" immigrants. Guess what, they won't look like Melania. They will look like "Mexicans" and "they" won't be able to tell the external difference between legal and illegal humans.
And then as the poem goes, then they will come after...
They are telling us EXACTLY what they will do. Listen to Trump's speeches, read Project 2025, listen to the Bannons and other Trump inner circle. They aren't kidding around.
What do people who have no legal right to be in the USA have to do with LGBTQ people who are US citizens?
Laws can change. The president can now do pretty much whatever they want and justify it as an "official act." Project 2025 wants to redefine anything and anyone relating to LGBTQ as pornographic and obscene. You have to be purposefully obtuse to not see where this is going.
Hitler started with immigrants too. But the nature of fascists mean once the camps are built, they'll keep finding new people to toss into them. They'll keep using people's bigotry and racism to justify whoever the new target is, until you look around and that target is you.
And even this SCOTUS will not say that our Constitution allows us to make being queer illegal. Federal recognition of gay marriage may end, but there will be no state laws that it's illegal for adults to be gay or trans.
It would be really good if people could be realistic and not dismiss any counterpoint as obtuse.
That doesn't mean bigotry wlll be curtailed or state sponsored "hauling people off" would not happen. You really need to look at Germany in the 1930's to understand where we are headed if the GOP s successful, and no this is not being hystrionic.

So you're saying the Equal Protection clause is moot?
That's what is happening when you say gay marriage will end. If that's true, then you can also begin to reintroduce segregation by race.
Segregation by race is an idea of the left these days. We are already seeing it in things like electeds of color events to color based safe spaces. Fight all the stupid, not just one sides.
When racism exists, there needs to be safe spaces for the persecuted. Why is this hard to understand?
So there is good racism and bad racism?
Ellected officials need a separate places?
Where is the persecution? Your fact free feeble excuse could be used to justify all kinds of race based shenanigans.
Frankly, the cure for racism isn’t racism and tribal cults.
The cure for racism also isn't election people who are good with confederate flags and banning books that they don't like.
Only member of the klan I have ever met in public office was the Dem leader of the US Senate.
But good point. FIGHT ALL THE RACISM and ALL THE RACISTS. A multi racial country will not withstand selected racism. Defeating racism requires disavowing it in all its forms.
David Duke?
Have you heard about the southern strategy? Read up a little history.
Never met Duke. He didn’t get that far in politics but old Mr. Byrd did and the current President voted for him to be his Leader. I know all kinds of things about elections. Both sides are guilty of horrible things.
Disavow them. And disavow racism.

It states: “We believe that the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States guarantees that no person can be denied Life or Liberty without Due Process, and that the States are, therefore, free to pass Laws protecting those rights.”
And that is a little intentionally opaque. But don’t worry. The forced birth moment understands what these words mean…
Students for Life Action’s Kristan Hawkins called the inclusion of the 14th Amendment language “the most significant contribution” the platform makes to ending abortion.
They want fetal personhood. And if Trump is elected and the senate flips, they will get it.
I hear you, but there's still the filibuster.
The right will kill the filibuster.
