Great for her first AP exam!
My freshman also got a 5. At their school, all 9th graders take AP Gov. iIt is crazy how different schools do things.
It just goes to show how APs are not truly college-level classes.
Freshman got a 5 in Calc BC. Apparently 45 kids got perfect scores. Make of that what you will.
You know that a 5 is not the same as a perfect score, right?
Yes. I do know that. But this year’s exam had 40 odd perfect scores which is high historically. So perhaps the exam was easier? 46% of all students scored 5s.
I doubt it was designed to be easier but something irregular and unpredictable is certainly going on…

Yes, my daughter got 4's on both sections. I thought she really knew the material and she wants to study engineering or physics at a top college. Now I'm not sure what do advise her to do with these results.
She has a 790 math SAT.
How did your kid and/or classmates do? I haven't heard from any other kids my daughter knows.
She got a 790 math and 4s on Phys C and you are somehow projecting that means she’s a failure and shouldn’t study engineering or physics? You’re nuts. Your daughter is great at math and physics. Support her.
No, but should she submit the 4's to a top engineering program?
That is what I'm unsure about. Would you submit them to Cornell engineering? Michigan? Georgia Tech?
There is mixed advice on this. My kid had 5s in all STEM related AP tests but 4s in US / world history and language. Waitlist at Cornell and GT with similar SAT and 12 AP, 4.0 etc
No one can really tell you what to do here.

Agree. My kid got a 2 on the AP test in the field he wants to go into and we're like--it's just one test on one day, it doesn't mean that much, you can totally study this in college!
2nd parent above is terrible if their kid actually wants to study engineering or physics, has those scores, and they aren't being totally supportive. WTF.
WTF: this parent is being totally supportive but just not sure how to approach college apps and whther to submit 4s...jeez!!!

thats what im confused about---seems 4 sucks when you are applying t20--if you report its a great score but not a 5, but if you dont report they may thinks you get less than a 3...i really want guidance on this as well
do you report to uva? im assuming yes to vtech?
4 is fine to report!
Will it be not enough for admission? Maybe!
Is it better than not reporting? No!!
Not reporting is equivalent to 1 or 2. What do you think AO thinks when they see "AP course, no test", or "non AP course, no test'. Do you think they are going to assume its equivalent to a 5?!

People seriously got up at 4:30 for this? Relax.
I got up at 2am on the West Coast. For us it is very strongly linked to applications to the UK where the AP result is taken as the equivalent of an A level. Without them, no offers.
Curious, is a 3 viewed as bad or good?
Cambridge only accepts 5s, and requires 5 of them.
But they make tentative offers confirmed by senior year exams.
Cambridge also states that the exams should be taken within two years earlier to the application. What about the kids who take and score 5s as freshmen. Do those scores not count anymore?
