Members can dine and often golf at any country club if you simply introduce yourself and explain you're traveling and what your home club is. They would only turn you down if it's some hyper-exclusive club or you look sketchy and prole. It's 2024, every restaurant has a credit card machine or pay with cash. They'll figure it out.
You don’t ask your club to arrange a letter of introduction for you? You just strut in and say “Reciprocity!!!” and expect service? I feel like that reflects poorly on your club. I doubt CC’s are *that* different…

WGCC? Sure pop in there for lunch. I’m sure they’ll welcome you with open arms. As long as you bring your $50,000 deposit for the waitlist. And recommendations.
Now I’m thinking you’re a troll.

Anonymous wrote:I think a lot of people here are misunderstanding reciprocity. It's mainly a golf thing, so members of one club might be able to get onto another course if their tee sheet is booked. I have never heard of using reciprocal privileges to book a reservation to eat at another club.
I also believe reciprocity has been phased out at Chevy Chase, Congressional CC, and Washington Golf and CC in Arlington. Would not shock me if others were, too. Most of these clubs are very busy and are running out of space for their respective memberships. There's virtually no chance they would give away a dinner rez to a non-member regardless of club affiliation

Didn't Tucker Carlson get into a viral dinner scuffle at a country club in Charlottesville? Was he a member at a club in a college town two and a half hours from his house? I doubt it.
Tucker Carlson is in fact a member at Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville. I am not a fan of the guy but have heard this from multiple friends who are members.
Makes sense. 3 of his kids went to UVA, as an infamous cable news man, he’d prefer a private CC to entertain the kids and their friends when he’d visit. Dining in public in a college town is way too risky. Even still, he ends up having a viral run-in at the country club!
Lots of rich douchey people get memberships when their kids get into UVA.
Country club social memberships are pretty inexpensive. I don't think Tucker golfs, so you're talking max a few grand a year and a couple hundred bucks a month on food & bev. That's peanuts to a millionaire.
Uh, no, Farmington is very very expensive. You can't buy just a social membership there. It's primarily golf Tucker isn't the member, his parents are.

You would need a member number to purchase a drink or food and would likely be escorted off the property unless you are accompanied by a member.
I regularly pay by card. I think I maybe the only one, but I've been a member for 15 years. I like the cash back - I'm cheap.

Boy, aren't you a bunch of hideous gossips. And all incorrect! Tucker is not a member of that club but I am. HIs parents are members. His daughter was assaulted by another member when she came out of the women's bathroom. The member said to his innocent daughter, "and are you Tucker's whore?". That member was expelled by the Club's board the next day. He was a property owner but has left the area. Everyone at the club was appalled.
Typical leftist behavior.
